I’ve been trying to understand the latest Russian disinformation campaign, and it actually seems pretty straight forward: it’s essentially a money-laundering operation from RT (Russian Television) to a Tennessee company ID’ed as Tenet Media (run by Lauren Chen and her husband, Liam Donovan, both GOP) to pay influencers who promote Putin’s useful idiot and actual asset, 78-year old convicted felon and adjudicated rapist Donald Trump, and more specifically trying to create agitprop about Ukraine, and to undermine our support.
[T]he Justice Department revealed an indictment Wednesday accusing Russia of a scheme to pay right-wing influencers to unwittingly spread propaganda ahead of the election.
- Pro-Trump content creators Tim Pool, Benny Johnson and Dave Rubin were among those who DOJ says were deceived by Tenet Media, a Tennessee-based company covertly funded by Moscow.
- All three — who described themselves as “victims” of the bombshell allegations — have millions of followers on X and are staples of the platform’s daily right-wing discourse.
Tenet was paying these jabronis $100K Ameros per video. And these mugs never asked where the money was coming from? Some media company no one has ever heard of hires these mooks for a king’s ransom to do a $100K video per week, and no one asks where’s the money coming from?
I don’t spend much or anytime in the MAGA fever swamps, so I really have no idea who those stooges are. Upon looking them up, well, stooges seems like a promotion.
Anyway, the larger point here is that Russia is still interfering with our domestic politics (remember the Mueller Report? It’s actual title is, Report On The Investigation Into Russian Interference In The 2016 Presidential Election.)

Look, if somebody with a heavy accent offered to give me $100k for a video a week I wouldn’t ask where the money was coming from I’d jut cash the freakin’ check, especially since I don’t do video.

A couple of years ago (maybe, the years all blur together these days) two RW spruikers wanted to tour NZ dropping flaming parcels of dog poop everywhere. The big meeting was going to be in Auckland but the mayor canned the celebrations on safety concerns. Cue the Free Speech loons on how ThIs Is CoMmUnisTic!!
One of the ranters was Lauren Southern and surprise, surprise, she is named as a Russian serf.

I suppose these professional useful idiots get to keep the bribe money. Poor suckers. Tim Pool pops up on my YouTube shorts occasionally and he is definitely an idiot. Not sure about the useful part though in his case. [His followers must be idiots as well.] Idiots suckering other idiots doesn’t sound very useful to me.
