Gosar, as you may recall, was deeply involved in the Stupid Coup —to the point where he addressed the crowd and later asked for a Presidential Pardon. In the previous Congress, Gosar was stripped of committee assignments for threatening AOC.

The stupid is powerful in this one. I can’t imagine electing a nut like this. There are some incredible people voting out there somewhere. It can’t all be gerrymandering, can it?

No, in AZ the gerrymandering isn’t that bad, because we-the-stinky-pipples voted in a referendum in 2001 mandating an independent redistricting commission that mandates equal represntation on the commission to draw the boundries.
It worked quite well in 2010, less well in 2020, when Gov. Doug “Il Deuce” Ducey gamed it by appointing a sham “independent” head of the commission.
This lead to a greater R tilt; including in LD 17 where the incumbent R. State Senator reset the boundries of LD 17 to better enable hos re-election, then he went on to lose to Crazy GQP Woman Janice Wadsak.
Haha to him, sucks for us.
AZ is still quite competitive as a statewide matter, but Gosar’s district is full of reactionary, vicious, old, retired sociopath Republicans. They LOVE that disgusting shithead.

It’s better than most places, thanks to cutting the Lege out of the process.
Also the 2020 Census was deeply fucked in AZ because of Mango Mussolini deliberately fucking it up to undercount minorities, and his bloviating against it meant MAGAs got undercounted as well.
The single saving grace of the reign of Orange Error was his staggering incompetence at even doing what he allegedly wanted.

Not that they represent a majority, but that group thinks they should be a majority even if they have to strip everyone else of voting rights to make that happen.
