Wingnuttia Takes Itself Hostage
The so-called Freedom Caucus have announced their demands that must be met OR ELSE they will destroy the US/World economy, and oddly they did not use letters cut out from magazines glued to a piece of paper:
What happened: The House Freedom Caucus blasted out a one-page list of bare-minimum requirements for getting them to vote “yea” on any bill that would raise the debt ceiling this summer.
But, you know, they could add new demands:
“Who said red lines? Did anybody say red lines?” [Stupid Coup enthusiast Presidential-pardon seeker Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) ] said in a brief interview.
“We got a proposal, if somebody else wants to add to it or detract from it, we’re open to their ideas,” Perry said. “What we’re not interested in is just keep doing the same things and thinking things are going to be different.”
And so, without further ado, here are Perry’s demands at the moment:
The 10 conditions:
- Turn back the clock on federal discretionary spending by two years, sticking with that ceiling for a decade, with a 1 percent uptick each year. That would mean slashing funding by $131 billion below current law, reverting to totals from the fiscal year that started in the fall of 2021.
- End the president’s student loan forgiveness policies.
- Claw back Covid aid that hasn’t been spent.
- Ahead of the government shutdown deadline in September, clear a short-term spending patch that cuts non-defense spending to totals from five years ago. The group says that strategy would “force” Congress to fund the government in a timely manner.
- Put a stop to spending on climate programs that Democrats delivered last summer in their signature tax, climate and health law.
- Generally reclaim as much Democratic-approved funding as possible.
- Force the president to issue an inflation estimate with each executive order that has a significant effect on the budget.
- End federal energy regulations.
- Claw back $80 billion from the IRS that’s supposed to beef up tax enforcement.
- Impose Clinton-era work requirements on welfare programs.
Totally reasonable! I bet President Handsome Joe Biden is totally willing to undo his entire presidency to these yahoos that tried to overthrow the government in 2021.
Naw, this is just to get a news hit on Fox to show Possum Hollar that they are really sticking it to The Man.

Any counterproposal from the Democrats must include verbiage to the effect of “Go fuck yourselves, individually and collectively!”

Got to love those guys. Cut everything but their tax cut. Who cares who dies or how. Such humanity on display, much less the grasp of current conditions. The first thing we need to do is to tie Senatorial and Congressional salaries and benefits to any discussions of cuts. They have no skin in the game and that needs to be rectified.

You have to take into consideration that many/most of them are already multimillionaires —certainly in the Senate. They benefit more from the tax cuts than they do from their salaries.
