I admit that it is somewhat disappointing; I also used to read Greenwald back in the early days. I think it’s essentially that the right wing pays a lot better than the left wing. MT is hauling in seven-figures a year now, just saying obnoxious, stupid shit.

For some guys, it’s emasculating to be earning less than your wife. And it’s also emasculating to lose all your hair in your forties. Especially if your brand is “truth teller”, and you could never get away with wearing even a $2000 toupee.
But my personal guess is that Elon hired him on the glowing reference from Elon’s personal hero Putin. MT never talks about all the years he spent in Russia and former Soviet satellite countries.

I still don’t know who this Matt Taibbi is. His name sounds vaguely Lebanese. Is he a male version of that Maria Bartiromo?
