Remove Fox News From The White House Correspondents Association

Happy Hour News

Paraphrasing the immortal words of former President Chimpy McStagger, “Is our Democrats learning?”

The answer might be YES, according to Tiger Beat on the Potomac:

The thunderclap of stories showing Fox News’ role in pushing 2020 election fraud conspiracies and aiding Donald Trump’s campaign has intensified calls among Democrats to black out the network.

For years, Democrats have been engaged in a debate over whether the party should shun the cable news giant or grudgingly use its airwaves to run counterprogramming. But in the midst of the latest saga, a newer type of reaction has emerged: that they should sever all ties, including any money spent advertising on the network.

“There is nothing in those documents to show they operate like a real news organization,” said Doug Gordon, a Democratic strategist. “If you are running a campaign in 2024, how do you in good faith hand your ads to Fox when you know they handed them over to Republicans? If there are any general election debates, how do you let Fox be a moderator?”

And you know, it’s about time. But before you break out the champaign, TBotP throw some cold water on our celebration:

There is no indication, at this juncture, that major Democratic entities are ready to halt their ad buys on Fox News, let alone its many affiliates. But that is partially because few Democratic campaigns or causes are currently spending ad money. In the interim, the Dominion lawsuit revelations have led to louder calls for the party to make a firm break from any involvement with the cable channel, whom they view as functionally a campaign arm for Republicans.

And then they get to my personal suggestion:

Democrats spanning the ideological spectrum have even started calling on the White House Correspondents’ Association — the group of news reporters advocating for press access — to boot Fox News reporters from the briefing room.

“They are arguably the most important entity of the American right and the Republican Party,” said Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg, suggesting that The Associated Press include in its stylebook that Fox News is not a news organization. “There needs to be a serious conversation now about whether Fox can continue to be a member of the White House Correspondents Association. Keeping them there seems not to be OK.”

No, they are not a new organization, they do not belong there. Honestly, many blogs run a better and more ethical news organization that Fox News, and I would love to see what TPM, Raw Story, and Crooks and Liars could do with access. Hell, Wonkette would be hellzapoppin if they could be credentialed. And you know why I cited these blogs? At various times they have been challenged over their stories and have been proven to be accurate and truthful.

Fox News? Not So Much.

To me, this is a no-brainer. Seriously. These bastards crossed so many journalistic and basic ethical lines supporting the big lie that they need to be decertified in as many ways as possible. The nauseating thing is that they knowingly endangered our democracy for ratings. I saw that the FEC is investigating them for a possible in-kind campaign finance violation too. Add that to the list.

I’ve found a guy that believes everything that Faux says, except that they were lying about the election. He just glosses over and talks right over that part. He still insists on an investigation since he hasn’t believed any of the previous investigations. He won’t address that his beloved news source has admitted lying outright to him. Amazing how they can just blank out the truth part. No more of “but, but, but …”. Are they capable of actual thought? It really makes me wonder.

I don’t understand why they were allowed into the White House Correspondents’ Association in the first place, let alone allowed to stay there.
I’ll concede they have claimed that certain shows busted for misinformation are opinion, not news, but their viewers seem to think they are all news. With lines that blurry, why did they get into the WHCA in the first place?
Did they bring the best hookers and blow? Do they have dirt on the gatekeepers? Are there NO gatekeepers?
Just more irresponsible speculation on my part.
