A new Mexican restaurant called Tapatios is taking over the space where Lauren Boebert’s gun-themed restaurant used to reside in Rifle, Colorado.
The Republican lawmaker’s restaurant was famous for having waitresses armed with handguns.

Come for the handguns, leave in a hurry with ptomaine and botulism!

Now I have to try Tapatio sauce. Maybe on a home version of that Camarongos. Jumbo shrimp and mushrooms, avocados and tomatoes – sounds pretty good.

Honestly the best mexican food I’ve ever had anywhere was in a little joint in Pas Christian MS (I cannot remember the name, this was in 2013) were some Camarones Diablo, absolutely fresh Gulf shrimp in a smaky hot chipotle-laden sauce that was so good I scraped the last of it off my plate with a spoon.
Tapatio is a term for someone from Guadalajara and Jalisco; lots of seafood dishes from there; the commercial sauce is kinda meh, but I’m spoiled by a the homegrown sauces from here in Tucson.

Alas, the re-launch of the original brand hasn’t yet happened 😦

Kind of meh is a recommendation for me. I don’t do well with HOT hot sauces. They make me cry, and not in a good way. It’s too bad, I suppose, as there are reportedly a lot of enjoyable cuisines involving heat.
Jury’s out on chipotle. It is on my list of stuff to try.

El Mercado in Pike Place Market has the most extensive selection of hot sauces I’ve ever seen, and the thing is, they know what each of them tastes like and can recommend one that is right for you (and for what you are having).

As I developed an eversion to crowds, Pike Place Market remained a destination I could enjoy. There are vendors who had been there renting the same farmer’s market spots for years, maybe decades.
It’s also featured in Wizard of the Pigeons.
I wish I could just go check out El Mercado in person, but the link is a nice start.

Mexicans will not replace us! Oh, wait, they will.

No one is being replaced. The Great Stone Soup culture of America will just get more diverse. I like that analogy better than ‘melting pot’ because that implies being turned onto a homogenous mass…that’s just what the racists want.

Yeah, I was making fun of the “great replacement” crowd. Should have used the sarcasm font.

I am from Los Angeles, California. My parents were refugees from the dustbowl. We were not encouraged to learn Spanish, because it was foreign. It was mexican. So that is why all the cities in California have Spanish names. It is too headache.

Well, it’s not a taco truck on every corner but it’s a start.

The lovely Ms. BoBo had her campaign office located right next door to her restaurant. Landlord booted her out of both.
