And meanwhile, in Idaho

“Idaho is this way, Jeebus.”

The WaPo has done some spelunking around the joint and has a long feature on the (white) Christian Nationalists/Separtists, and it is very alarming. I am allowed to give access behind the firewall and so this link is free.

‘Christian patriots’ are flocking from blue states to Idaho

North Idaho offers a window into what a right-wing vision for a Christian America can look like — and the power it can wield in state politics

And you can see why it grabbed my attention. It’s like have a gun nut next door: you know it’s only a matter of time before they aim at you.

Generally these Margaret Mead-style expeditions go to a diner somewhere in Satan’s Hollow to marvel at what makes the natives tick and then amusedly report on the quaint customs and eating habits of the primitives. Those reports leave me non-plussed because they never go one inch out of their way to talk to the non-crazy Republicans (and certainly not Democrats in the area). In a way, this is similar because they don’t talk to atheists and whatnot (and it really might be because there are none), but they do get some reactions from allegedly normal Republicans who don’t want this take-over.

It’s an interesting, longish read. Highly recommended, and as I said, from that link you can access it behind the fire wall.

Also, there’s been a movement afoot to make eastern Oregon part of Idaho. Not that it will happen, there are just too many sane people in Oregon who feel the need to taunt the would-be traitors, and they deserve it…

    From the article…

I like that the theater is showing Repo Man, which indicates that the University of Idaho must be nearby.

The fascists are going to be hard-pressed to stifle all that free thinking.

That is not what I thought the temptation of christ would look like. Seems to be very sperm oriented.
