“My Preciousssss”
K-Mac, boy economist gets to the bottom of the Deep State collusion with Big Egg:
Is K-Mac making an egg joke when he says breaks instead of brakes?
Naw, he’s just an idiot from an agricultural district who doesn’t know that there is an avian flu epidemic that is killing the chickens and thus the Invisible Hand is reacting to the marketplace.
Ayn Rand weeps.
The have a hammer: “Everything bad is caused by out of control gummint spending” so every problem looks like an “Out of control gummint spending” nail.
It’s not really that complicated figuring out these mopes.

They’re playing to their audience. Everything is Biden’s fault. Like gas prices. They’re so high. Ignore that they are beginning to cool off, it’s Biden’s fault. Still dropping? Look over there! EGGS!!!1! They’re SHINY? And EXPENSIVE!@! And it’s all Biden’s fault. Explaining how it’s Biden’s fault is beside the point. The people who care that it doesn’t add up aren’t in their
audiencechoir anyway.LikeLiked by 1 person
I’m fairly certain that he has never been in a grocery store. Side note, we’ve never had a problem getting good eggs at Costco…

The two Big Ag companies that provide about 80%of the nations eggs have not had any incidents of avian flu, at least not as of a couple weeks ago, so the Invisible Hand of the free market is having an effect but it is the Heavy Hand iof Big Ag that is jerking ua all off.

I second this.

Torture eggs – the only way they keep the prices as low as they have. There is no way anyone can sell for what the two big Ag companies do and treat their birds humanely. No surprise that they also gouge when they get the chance.

I also second this.
Last week and the weekend before, it was interesting to see that the certified non-torture eggs were lower priced than the factory/torture eggs.
Local people, especially the public school ag students, sell eggs at a reasonable price, though some sell for more than they used to. They say production remains what it’s been, and no sick chickens.

I was still living in California when we voted for humane eggs. And I stand by that. The Peoples Republic of Seattle also has humane eggs, but the price has not changed at all (that I’ve noticed).

We have a shit-ton of eggs right now. The girls are laying about 13 dozen a day. It remains to be seen how we fare with avian flue this spring when we turn the flocks out to pasture. We keep them in agricultural buildings for the winter so they have virtually no contact with wild birds. The bad news is that DOW found a dead mountain lion that tested positive for bird flu less than a mile from our property. It’s looking like another tough year for us chicken ranchers.

Yup. Small-scale-farmers-r-us. We have 300 to 600 chickens depending, a commercial greenhouse, and grow diversified vegetables at 8,000 feet elevation in one of the coldest mountain valleys in Colorado. It’s almost like we don’t have good sense. Mrs. ming is a full-time farmer. I have a day job that helps offset the bleed rate.

Ming’s is also a cool place to read, I think.

I’m just kind of curious about this Kevin McCarthy. His district is in the Great Valley of California, and Bakersfield is a regional center. Does he even go there? Has he been to Bakersfield lately? Is he aware of what happens in his district? It is a difficult place and they could use some help.
It is a GOP hellhole. It is because of K-Mac and people like him.

I buy eggs from a local farm here in WNY. They’re in the supermarkets, it’s not like I go to the farm. But it’s not like they’re a huge corporate concern. They’re a family farm that’s been around for ages. Egg prices are lower here than in other parts of the country & there hasn’t been any outbreaks of avian flu (yet).

I’m more concerned with what K-Mac is trying to “pump.”
