Happy Hour News
I think this actually is much more of a Presidents Day picture; we got two world class leaders hugging, and that’s pretty great.
But of course, not everyone sees it that way. Marjorie Traitor Greene, for instance:
Now, I’m old enough to remember the protocol that one never, ever, dissed the president while he was overseas, ESPECIALLY IF THE PRESIDENT IS IN A WAR ZONE. (And on a personal note, I remember saying when Chimpy McStagger was in Iraq that I was OK with him going, but I would be bummed-out when he returned… and getting a ration of merde even for that.)
WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden’s surprise trip to Ukraine on Monday drew a range of attacks from congressional Republicans who criticized his support for the war-torn country and accused him of neglecting issues back at home…
…The President’s Day criticism, much of which came as Biden was still in the warzone, echoed Republicans who have accused Biden of neglecting the U.S. Southern border and bearing some responsibility for the war in Ukraine.
It should be shocking, but it’s now just part of the GOP, wherein they get on their hind legs, bare their fangs and howl whatever outrage they can come up with:
- “You should be standing with East Palestine —an American town in your own country that needs your help,” tweeted Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., in a reference to the Ohio town where a train derailment and chemical leak earlier this month caused thousands to be evacuated from their homes and has raised environmental concerns.
- “When our border is in crisis, Joe Biden goes home to nap in Delaware. When Ohio burns with toxic chemicals, Biden’s admin says everything is fine. So on Presidents’ Day, I’m not surprised that Biden is ditching America for Ukraine. He ditched America’s interests since the start of his presidency. They can keep him!” tweeted Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.
- “So it takes two years for Joe Biden @POTUS to visit the war zone he created at our southern border, but then he goes to see another war zone he created in Ukraine,” tweeted Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C.
- “The U.S. support for war in Ukraine has been like a U.S. proxy war with Russia. But now it’s becoming more like a U.S.- China war through the Ukraine — Russia war. End it now!” tweeted Greene.
And of course as mentioned earlier, Rep. 3-toes calling for civil war is a highlight of the day, and before anyone forgets: Madge, who is calling for civil war is on the House Homeland Security Committee, which is really a testimonial to K-Mac, who is really bad at his job, so bad in fact that he is on a 3-week vacation while the alleged debt ceiling negotiations awaits.
How TFG would have handled East Palestine…

Each of them should be on their way (or already there!) to Guantanamo for that. Shame on them (I know they have no shame, of course.) I recall taking rafts of crap as well, during the GW years, especially coming out against his invasions after those plane crashes in 2001. That got scary, a time or two.

I’m sorry; “them” and “they” are US House Republicans. Sheesh; it’s been a day.)

They say there are two sides to every story.
However, MTG is a traitorous douche-canoe in both of them.

I don’t think there is anything that shows off the GQP’s fascism better then this. They actually would prefer to see Trump kissing Putty’s ass again in Helsinki (well not there anymore) after he steamrollers Ukraine.

Anytime President Biden does something Presidential, the Magats will howl. They hate him for being effective, they absolutely hate anything that he does that is good. This is Prime Time Presidential stuff, and it’s no wonder they can’t control their frothing at the lips over it. Go, Biden.

Yes, these scum are fundamentally unpatriotic. It’s Party over Country every Effing time with these creatures. They would have booed FDR’s “Day of Infamy Address” because it was delivered by “a traitor to his class.”

I remember when nobody heckled the SOTU address. Way back in 2008. Not everyone applauded after ever sentence, but nobody showed up in “Let’s Make a Deal” costumes and if they were drunk, they were quietly drunk.
I feel old.
