Some Fact Checking

There is no question that the recent train derailment in Ohio is a disaster and we send our condolences to the people of East Palestine, Ohio.

We note with some chagrin in the midst of Republican demands that Transportation Secretary Mayor Pete resign, the coverage remarkably does not mention that during the 4th Reich, Hair Füror rolled back specific regulations on trains that the administration of the Kenyan Usurper put into place.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) repealed a train safety rule in 2018 that required installing electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brakes on trains that carried highly flammable hazardous materials, including crude oil.

Hair Füror’s Prime Directive was to erase the Obama Administration, and eventually there is a cost.

I’ve seen comments from Republicans about the failure of the infrastructure bill, too, and need I remind you that it was only put into place recently?

Anyway, while the optics of Mayor Pete not being on site admittedly needs improvement, but it is far from true that this accident is due to his direct negligence. This is politics.

  1. Sadly, DeWhine going on about how FEMA isn’t needed because it wasn’t a flood, tornado or hurricane, and “no need to declare a Federal emergency, Brandon” will not ever penetrate the minds of the folks in Ohio who are getting fucked over by their Republican leaders, that maybe, just maybe those Republican leaders don’t actually give a flying fuck about them.

…And the press is quoting people complaining about the delayed response from the Federal government, when in fact Biden contacted DeWine, who told reporters he hadn’t returned the President’s call because he didn’t see the need…until he did.

Mayor Pete should be held harmless. He’s only guilty of inheriting the mess TFG created, and what a mess it is indeed…

I’m annoyed by that whole premise. When was any disaster made better by the temporary presence of a politician? It’s a total non-issue, but it’s all they have to flog, to take attention off their deregulation efforts.

The US averages about 4 derailments per day. This has been going on for decades. Republicans have consistently fought against any regulation. The taxpayers and the people of East Palestine will pay to clean the mess up. Once again Rethugs show that they are fine with socialism when it comes to corporate liability. IF we were to make the corporations pay for ALL the damage it would suddenly be cost effective for them to self regulate. Here is a longish but informative video on the derailment.

The fine politicians of Ohio want to overturn child labor laws, including allowing 13-14 year olds to work in dangerous conditions and give the company a pass if they are killed or dismembered. Maybe they can have the kids clean up the mess from the train derailment and when they die of toxic chemicals, it will all be no harm no foul. They won’t even get a bag of veggies for them, like the Russians give to mothers for their dead sons.
