You’ve got to be eff’ing kidding me:
TALLAHASSEE — As Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida Republican leaders explore alternatives to the College Board’s AP classes and tests, top state officials have been meeting with the founder of an education testing company supporters say is focused on the “great classical and Christian tradition.”
The Classic Learning Test, founded in 2015, is used primarily by private schools and home-schooling families and is rooted in the classical education model, which focuses on the “centrality of the Western tradition.”
The founder of the company, Jeremy Tate, said the test is meant to be an alternative to the College Board-administered SAT exam, which he says has become “increasingly ideological” in part because it has “censored the entire Christian-Catholic intellectual tradition” and other “thinkers in the history of Western thought.”
So if your not a straight, white, Xristian male, you are not worth learning about in AP classes and of course not worth going to Floriduh’s many (allegedly) accredited colleges.
We’ve said it before, but these fascists and Christian Nationalists are trying to repeal the enlightenment, and if ever there was a banana republic and a banana republican to pull it off, it is Ron DeSantis’ Floriduh in 2023.
I’m thinking those accredited colleges are soon going to start losing their accreditations as Meatball Ron DeathSentence continues to fuck up Flori-DUH’s educational systems. No reputable school in the country is going to want to accept credits from schools whose only classes are teaching how big Jesus’ cross is supposed to be.

I see litigation in Floi-DUH’s future.

Shouldn’t the accompanying graphic be a white rubber go-go boot with a black cross?

Ol’ Ronnie should have joined me for dinner last night. I’m a Florida Man (yes it’s all my fault) and a constituent though I’m sure RDtutu doesn’t consider a liberal like me a constituent. Anyway, I had a hankering for crawdads yesterday and found a restaurant right on my commute home that carried them. When I pulled into the parking lot it was mostly huge jacked-up pickup trucks. When I went inside the majority of the clientele looked just like the type of people you would expect to be driving those pickups in Florida. The restaurant had a number of TVs scattered about the dining area as is customary these days. Half of the TVs were tuned to Univision and the other half were showing a rerun of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. There were several families with young children there exposed to all of this. I could actually see these poor children turning into gay immigrants right before my eyes. Right in Ron’s own state! He is sure letting his Good’Ol Boy base down.

My little liberal arts university recently went through the WASC re-accreditation process and it is a no-shit deep dive into the institution. They take everything very seriously, and loosing that accreditation would be devastating to the university.
We are a very well run, long established institution and passed the examination, but even still there were some pretty cutting critiques that inspired changes. I can’t imagine a university that complies with these mandates surviving such scrutiny.
On the plus side, without that accreditation, when their students apply for grad school, they will be laughed out of the process immediately and we won’t have to deal with them.

I feel you. Our college is embarking on the re-accreditation process. We’re pretty well set, so it should be fairly routine, but it’s still a lot of work, and nerve-wracking.

I think you’ve hit upon the real reason that Boebert recently proposed eliminating the Board of Education. Any other damage done by this move would just be gravy.

Ron DeathSentence seems intent on turning Florida into Hungary-shaped-like-America’s-dick at warp speed. It’s All White Supremacy All the Time; does he really believe this is a path to the Presidency?

i’m just glad that I attended college at a time when you only had to sweat making the grade. The insanity in the southern and other GQP states right now is appalling…

In a few years, would you let a doctor trained in Florida treat you?

So DeSantis wants to propagandize the youths in Western Civilization, you know, that thing that was invented by Greek gay men. Hilarity would ensue if they actually taught the thing without heavy editing.

I thought of Rosalind Franklin who, if memory serves, Watson and Crick said they wished they had apologized to and included in their DNA discoveries due to her contribution to their DNA research (x-ray crystallography, which showed a double helix rather than what they expected. They argued. She won, but only because she was correct). She would no doubt be off Ronnie D’s approved study list on at least two strikes. She was a woman in science, and the science involved genetics.
Will young, elite Floridians be required to learn Latin, or will it be ancient Greek this time around?
