Nikki Haley, the newly minted Republican presidential candidate, called on Wednesday for mandatory “mental competency tests” for politicians older than 75, an implied dig at President Biden and her onetime boss, former President Trump.
The thing is I’m not opposed, but I would expand it to include everyone seeking the White House, regardless of age. And I would want it to include any other pathologies, like narcissists, etc.
We’ve had a long history of psychos. From Nixon to Reagan to Chimpy to Lord Damp Nut, we’ve seen it all.

Or, more to the point, I don’t want to be close enough to any of them for that to happen.

Also a civics (or a general competency) test, IMO. But this would be a great step forward in ths day and age.

I vote for drug testing of every senator, congressional rep, president, VP, and all cabinet posts.
Oh, and don’t forget the SC.
Until that happens we’ll have settle for found memories of when idiocy was something to be laughed at, not voted for.

I’m not opposed to mental competency tests, but then there’s the problem of who gets to administer the test and who gets to appoint that person and what kind of bias will they have.
