We mention the Razor because…

It’s so stupid, it could be true. It doesn’t negate that he stole it, however.

    Is this the “I needed it so taking it wasn’t stealing” defense?
    Maybe it’s the “I needed something so using the stolen merchandise for purpose negates the original theft” defense.
    Considering the base they’re playing to, maybe it’s the “I had the folders, but only because they deserved to be taken” defense. It’s a relative of the “I took them because they asked for it. Why don’t you ask those folders and documents what they were wearing?”
