Chinese Spy Balloon?
The last time we checked in with probably 2024 Goat Rodeo contender Sen. Tom Cotton, he was trying to blame The Keyan Usurper for the Chinese Spy Balloons that floated over the country during [checks notes] Hair Füror’s 4th Reich.
Today, ol’ Q-Tip is demanding DOD spending increases to fight the scourge of balloons:
“The entire civilized world should recognize that communist China is probably the greatest threat we’ve ever faced, more severe than Soviet Russia was because of its economic integration into the West,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) after receiving a briefing from senior administration officials on the spy balloon. “We should take every step we can to try to reduce our dependency on China [and] try to build stronger military deterrence against them.
“I do not think that we should be talking about cutting the defense budget at all right now. If anything, substantial defense increases,” he said.
And of course a lot of his fellow thumb suckers in the Senate agree with their “friend” from Arkansas.
We mention this in the service of the Debt Ceiling stand-off. President Handsome Joe Biden effortlessly got the Party of Personal Responsibility to publicly say that they were not going to cut Social Security and Medicare, and if Cotton and his peers (I crack myself up) say that Defense spending should be increased, well that balanced budget demand just became impossible without tax increases.
I’m going to enjoy watching these jeniuses climb out of this box.
They’re not going to climb out of the box. They’ll just keep digging.

Naa, that illustration above couldn’t possibly be a Chinese Spy Balloon, no intelligence to gather…

Ten Grain posted this for his stint for Mike’s Blog Roundup (Crooks&Liars). Thought this was a great take down of the stupid dominating the GQP right now. The Shower Cap scores big time…

Let’s hope this new defense gambit doesn’t play into the “not a penny more for Ukraine” mania.

Yeah, the Republicans in the House are already there, but I don’t think that there is a way that the Republican Hawks in the Senate are going to give up an actual war.
