Republicans get to work!
It’s the elastic versus the plastic: Ronna ROMNEY McDaniel versus Harmeet Dhillon. Take it away, Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie) morning email thingie:
While McDaniel remains the favorite, Dhillon’s team has been working overtime since they arrived, and there are unmistakable signs she’s made headway. Just days ago, she had fewer than 30 of the 168 RNC members publicly endorsing her compared to more than 100 who had backed McDaniel in an open letter after the midterms.
The race’s new fluidity comes as members wrangle with one big question in increasingly urgent tones: What does this race say about DONALD TRUMP’s hold on the GOP?
Certainly both candidates maintain close relationships with Trump, and there are few outward signs the party is interested in making a public break with the former president. Yet we have heard many RNC members grumble over the past two days that they want a fresh face to lead the party — and someone better positioned than McDaniel to beat back Mar-a-Lago fever and ensure the org’s neutrality in the 2024 primaries.
And it goes on like that for most of the first half of the email. Here’s the thing (as I understand it): both serious candidates (not even discussing Mike Pillow*) are tools of Lord Damp Nut’s. During four stints as RNC Chair, Ronna ROMNEY McDaniel has the distinction of having lost the House, the Senate, and the White House during her rein of error (see what I did there?) while being lead around by Hair Füror. MAGA enthusiast Dhillon is the newer model, with the same old bit and reins.
Dhillon’s apparent 11th-hour surge comes as she’s spent the past two days apologizing to RNC members for the the flood of email her aggressive corps of grassroots activists have sent their way. She’s also been privately telling members concerned about the diehard MAGA posse around her that she is notan election denier and will do more than McDaniel to push back on Trump when needed.
Anyway, it’s gonna be stupid no matter what happens.
- H/T Chris Hayes’ MSNBC Chyron operator.
I almost fell off my chair laughing last night. On Chris Hayes show on MSNBC they were discussing this election and the chyron listed him as ‘Mike Pillow’

Yeah, I saw it and I thought I screencapp’ed it, but I cannot find it.
It was a great Chyron.
Thanks for the reminder, I should have hat-tipped that.

About as much as his hold on integrity.
