Unsaddle That Goat!

Senator Batboy
Sen. Rick Scott is in it to win it:
Sen. Rick Scott of Florida is running for re-election, he said in an announcement first shared with NBC News.
Scott released his campaign staff hires and made it clear he’s not planning to run for president, as some have speculated.
“I’m running for the U.S. Senate,” he said.
And you’ll never guess what his Senatorial campaign platform is!
Scott also promised to push a controversial conservative plan that brought bipartisan condemnation last year. Scott released his plan, nicknamed “Rescue America,” when he led the National Republican Senatorial Committee and packed it with red-meat conservative proposals on welfare, immigration, gender, crime and education.
Yup, the plan that sunsets Social Security and Medicare every 5 years unless Congress re-approves it. This ought to go over really well at The Villages.
Only seventeen percent of Americans in an Economist/YouGov poll said they supported Congress reducing spending on Social Security and Medicare; seventy percent opposed this. Just 22 percent of Republicans supported cutting Social Security and Medicare spending, along with even fewer Democrats and independents.
The Democrats are already salivating:
“We’ve seen this movie so many times,” White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates said in a statement, comparing Scott to House Republicans who want to cut taxes that benefit the wealthy while cutting social services.
“Rick Scott is doing the very same thing,” he added. “Tripling down on his ultra MAGA agenda to raise taxes on middle class families and schedule Medicare and Social Security to expire is fundamentally at odds with the wishes of the American people, and President Biden is firmly against it. Instead of selling out working families to rich special interests, the President is fighting to build an economy that works from the bottom up and the middle out.”
We note that 2024 is a Presidential year and that usually means even the unreliable Democratic voters get out, and Rick Scott just nationalized his re-election.
Of course, this is Floriduh which is not a swing state any longer (even though the Pundit Class have not reached that conclusion), so anything could happen.
Sadly I fear it will…there’s DEFINITELY something in the water there, maybe like that fungus that zombifies ants. Or alien ants.
(yes yes, I know Cordyceps is the zombie plot hook in “The Last of Us”, but I really liked the alien ants thing in “Brain Dead” too bad it only lasted one season…)

“Tripling down on his ultra MAGA agenda …” is not the campaign message he thinks it is, methinks. Saying this out loud will just give remaining MAGA and Fox a toehold in supporting Scott.
Please find another accurate way to phrase this. How about “stripping the deserving of their insurance payouts” I mean, that’s clumsy and doesn’t trip of the tongue like “ultra MAGA” does, but at least it doesn’t stiffen resolve to kill SS and Medicare if that’s what it takes to declare loyalty to the cult.
