Breaking CNN!
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is joining CNN as a Senior Political Commentator, the network announced today. Kinzinger joins CNN with extensive experience in GOP politics, having recently retired from the U.S. House of Representatives after serving six terms representing Illinois’ Sixteenth Congressional District. Kinzinger most recently served on the high-profile House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol as well as the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Prior to being elected to Congress, Kinzinger served in the Air Force in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Kinzinger was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in November 2003 and later awarded his pilot wings. He has served in the Air Force Special Operations, Air Combat Command, Air Mobility Command, and Air National Guard. Kinzinger continues to serve his country as a pilot in the Air National Guard, with the current rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Make no mistake: Kinzinger is a hard-right conservative, his record leaves no doubt about that. While many might cite his Jan 6 Committee work to mean he’s one of the good ones, his position on just about everything is as doctrinaire Republican as you can get.
This is a hard-right lurch for CNN.
Guess they’re giving up on the ‘-Lite’ prt of ‘Fox-Lite’

Well Mr Kinzinger stood up for the Constitution when damn few other members of the GQP caucus would, which makes him a hero. Not sure why CNN thought of him as a good hire. He may be a hero for standing up for the Constitution, but I agree with Ten Grain about his politics…

No, it doesn’t make him a hero. It made him a person who actually did his goddamn job. I refuse to further devalue the word “hero” by applying it to someone who did something they were supposed to do anyway.

I get what you’re saying, and agree with it. I’m unsure how so many members of the GQP caucus didn’t defend the Constitution, but they made their beds and now have to sleep in them…

What he did was heroic considering the circumstances. But isn’t this just how wingnut welfare works? I haven’t watched CNN since GHW’s war, and I didn’t care for it then, either; it was just that I could see news when I had a chance instead of being home at 5:30.
I can see where a new “Crossfire” could be fun with Kingzinger and a real progressive, for those into something like that.
