‘It’s fine’ —Our Failed Political Press ™

News at 11.

The sequence of events: 1) Hair Füror announced his entry into the 2024 Goat rodeo with another American Carnage speech; B) Has a Nazi dinner party; iii) Decrees that the constitution should be terminated and he should be installed as dictator.

And with very few exceptions Republicans —including those likely to run against him in a primary— continue to refuse to criticize him by name:

But only a handful of Republican lawmakers have joined the White House and Democrats in condemning Trump’s assertions. Representatives for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) did not respond on Sunday to requests for comment.

…Some GOP lawmakers who were asked on Sunday political shows about Trump’s latest missive said they disagreed with the former president. However, most still hesitated to say that they would oppose Trump if he becomes the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee.

Rep. David Joyce (R-Ohio), chair of the Republican Governance Group, avoided answering directly when asked ABC’s “This Week” about Trump’s comments, saying he “didn’t make a habit of speaking out on his tweet du jour” when Trump was in office.

And Our Failed Political Press ™  is fine with all this, the 2024 Goat Rodeo headlines/ratings will be boffo. If every elected Republican is not on record where they stand on Hair Füror’s fascist demand to destroy the Constitution, it is complete dereliction of journalism. You don’t give them a pass.

OK, so he comes out and plainly says he is for Fascism, his minions eat it up and the rest of us go wait a minute here. At least he isn’t hiding his true colors this time. I would hope that his mouth has sealed his fate as unelectable, but there are still quite a few crazies registered to vote.
When free people choose fascism over freedom, we are in really bad shape. We have allowed the fascists too much leeway to define the discussions and it is biting us in the butt big time.

I, for one, will really look forward to his testimony in the Stupid Coup. I’m pretty sure his lawyers are all heading to the bar at Merde-a-Lardo for a shot.
