About Last Night… (Rudderless Republicans, Part Infinity)

Republicans get to work!

Guys, everyone today is going to talk about the Red Ripple or whatevs, but I think we can set that narrative out to sea. The real story of last night, is that it was supposed to be a bloodbath for Democrats, and the pundits and pollsters are wondering what happened to their conventional wisdom. I swear I heard some jerk on CNN say that the voters let THEM down! Anyway, the pollsters got it spectacularly wrong again, and I think polling is functionally dead.

Second storyline: this was a major loss for our 2X-impeached LOSER ex-Prznint stupid:

“If [Republicans] win, I should get all the credit. If they lose, I should not be blamed at all”

No matter what else we take away from the results, we need to understand that Republicans should now feel emboldened to break with Hair Füror. His hand-selected candidates lost (or, as of this writing are still losing). We probably will hold the Senate (with VP Harris as the tie breaker), when the dust settles, and if Team Coup gets the house, it will be by less than 10 seats, which means K-Mac (who is terrible at his job) will probably be ineffective as a Speaker (he might not even make it that far: MAGA is likely to blame him for failing a decisive victory, and Lord Damp Nut will undoubtedly look to him to be a scapegoat).

Third storyline: all the amendments to protect abortion rights in state constitutions won. Witch-burner Sam Alito lost bigly. This election was as much about judicial overreach and our Illegitimate SCOTUS’ naked christian fascism. Our Illegitimate SCOTUS is absolutely on the ballot for the 2024 Goat Rodeo.

The $5 Bet I Wanted To Lose: Once Tim Ryan started positioning himself to be another member of the Joe Manchin caucus I bet he was going to lose. He did and bigly, and those mugs who took the bet owe me a 5-spot. Politics is the game of addition. Always be adding to your own base, don’t count on subtracting from your opponent. It never works.

Tim Ryan ran AGAINST the Democrats as Republican Lite and lost to a very weak candidate, the utter fraud and hillbilly effigy-and Ivy League investment banker JD Vance. We have not seen the break down in voters, but I’m betting Ryan lost the Yutes. He never added to the base.

In contrast, Senator-elect John Fetterman —despite his stroke and poor debate performance— mopped up with another fraudster Republican, Dr. Meh Oz. He showed up to all the counties, even the rural ones, and kept bashing on his opponents authenticity. He ran as a Democrat in a purple state and won because he kept going for the base.

So this morning there are still House races to count, Senate races in AZ/NV/WI/GA are still being counted (and if my math is correct we need to win 2 of them?). We remain a divided country as ever.

P.S. – I think we all know this, and maybe now the pundits will know it, but Floriduh is not a swing state. Ruby Red it is. More conventional wisdom down the drain.

Boebert lost, so one of the worst candidates bites the dust…

  2. Gee, running as Republican-Lite worked so well in 2010 and 2014, didn’t it?

On the bright side, in AZ it looks like we’re going to have a 50/50 State Senate, which means they’re going to have to come to some sort of power-sharing agreement. Not sure what the Huse sich looks like and I am studiously ignoring the top office results I’m just afraid we’ve been saddled with Krazy Lake, Yosemite Sam Mark Finchem and the trumpiest Attorney General.

I’ll put our trumpy AG (soon-to-be Kris Kobach) up against your trumpy AG for pure nuttiness! I can already see that what little KS has managed to keep in the treasury will be spent on filing and legal fees for all the lawsuits Kobach’s gonna file against Pres. Biden. It’s what he campaigned on.

      • Wasn’t he the one a judge ordered to attend remedial ‘how to lawyer’ classes after one of his other lawsuits?

        I think so.
But we also had a Republican named Phill Kline who lost his license just before he took office after election. The Judicial committee had to warn him to get his licence back or leave office. So, It could have been him, but I think Kobach’s the only one with the national name.

In more good news, Raphael Warnock is ahead of Hershcel Walker by 36,000 votes. Still not sure why anyone in the sane world would vote for Walker. Oh, I answered my own question…

Uhg- Florida. Anyone who said FL was a swing state has never lived there. Seriously- it’s the absolute ONLY place TRE45ON could go after losing to Handsome Joe- because they are def his people. They are a dying breed tho.

More good news: not only were Michigan’s top Democrats (AG Dana Nessel, SOS Jocelyn Benson, and Governor Big Gretch) reelected, not only were two progressive propositions (reproductive rights and election reforms) approved, but both houses of the state Legislature are now in Democratic hands, giving the state a Dem trifecta for the first time in over 40 years. It’s a clear repudiation of the Trumplican agenda here (despite the state being blood red outside the major urban centers), so no matter what happens in the rest of the country, locally I can be happy and breathe a sigh of relief.

Third storyline: flooding the zone with house polls to create the illusion of a “wave” doesn’t work too well when your opponent’s votes are already cast.

Nice try on that “wave”, guys. And pour one out for those disappointed “pundits” who spent all that effort pumping air into tires slashed by TFG.

More good news from Alaska. Mary Peltola kicked Sarah Palin’s ass in an epic election. By close to a two to one margin…

One last comment, I heard somewhere the Dems are calling this election “Roevember.” Not hard to imagine why, the skirts and their male allies came through big time…
