St. Ronnie and Lee Atwater: together again

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) single-handedly revives the Southern Strategy:

One doesn’t need to hear the dogs bark over the air raid siren, methinks. It’s incredible to me to think he replaced Doug Jones.

It’s Alabama, remember. Doug Jones never had a winning football team.

I was unaware that it had ever been in need of revival. Although to be fair, it should now be simply The Strategy, since it now applies everywhere, not just the South.

This is the kind of soaring rhetoric you get when you elevate a man whose qualifications are as a [checks notes] college sportsball coach to the Senate.

I presume there were earlier ones but when I grew up the was George Wallace. Whatever he was spewing has grown and infected a once great nation. If only progress was desired instead of despised. We have so got to get away from racism. Not spuuzing it from the Senate would be a good place to start.

I’m hoping there are some black republicans out there having epiphanies today.
