My elder cat, Isa, despite her age (18) still plays a lot and still likes to chase a laser pointer. I once picked up a toy that generated supposedly random movements of a laser dot. It didn’t interest her. She only likes it when I’m holding the pointer. Her cattitude seems to be, “If you’re not going to put forth any effort, why should I?”

    • LOL, our new dog more or less does the same with fetch: she’ll chase after the tennis ball twice and bring it back, the third time she takes it off to some other part of the yard and drops it “I’m not going to bother bringing it back if you’re just going to throw it away again!”

  4. our two new kits had to grow a little bit and get comfortable in the house to start play behavior, but now they are always fighting, chasing laser pointer, and so on.
