But The Book Sales Will Be Boffo

Thanks a lot, Maggie Haberman:

(CNN)Former President Donald Trump repeatedly told aides in the days following his 2020 election loss that he would remain in the White House rather than let incoming President Joe Biden take over, according to reporting provided to CNN from a forthcoming book by New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman.

“I’m just not going to leave,” Trump told one aide, according to Haberman.

“We’re never leaving,” Trump told another. “How can you leave when you won an election?”

Trump’s insistence that he would not be leaving the White House, which has not been previously reported, adds new detail to the chaotic post-election period in which Trump’s refusal to accept his defeat and numerous efforts to overturn the election result led to the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by pro-Trump rioters.

Haberman’s book, “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America,” is being released on October 4.

It’s an epidemic of reporters holding back valuable and timely information to save for a book. It needs to stop. We need accurate, real-time information reported in context when it happens. Saving it for a book is not journalism, it’s malpractice. There is no excuse.

We need something akin to the American Bar Association so reporters have a common set of ethics and violations like this get their Journalism licenses pulled.

Assertion the NYT wants reporters with ethics presented without evidence.

For the Times, the Habes isn’t a bug – she’s a prized feature.

  3. obv, Fat Nixon was not aware that the office of the Presidency does not vest in the building, but in the person elected. so go ahead, stay in there, lock the doors from the outside and lock out any food deliveries. Meanwhile, Dark Brandon can operate the country from whatever location he decides will serve as his operational base.

I know you’re joking about licensing journalists (see First Amendment) but let’s not give the fascists any ideas.

At the time I read about Donny’s refusal to leave, and I had great hopes for a scene where he is carried out by Joe Biden’s SS detail or National Guard and unceremoniously dumped on his ass in the driveway.
Alas, it was not to be. My next best hope is a perp walk with the cuffs and leg irons. Still have a chance for that.
