Semi-Fascism Today

When fascism comes to the United States, it will be carrying a bible upside down and backwards and humping the flag – paraphrasing, of course.

More news of bringing a knife to a knife fight:

President Biden on Thursday night launched a push toward the midterm elections with a fiery speech in Rockville, Md., in which he cast the Republican Party as one that was dangerously consumed with anti-democratic forces that had turned toward “semi-fascism.”

It was some of the strongest language used by Biden, a politician long known — and at times criticized for — his willingness to work with members of the opposite party.

“The MAGA Republicans don’t just threaten our personal rights and economic security,” Biden said, referencing former president Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again slogan. “They’re a threat to our very democracy. They refuse to accept the will of the people. They embrace — embrace — political violence. They don’t believe in democracy.”

“This is why in this moment, those of you who love this country — Democrats, independents, mainstream Republicans — we must be stronger,” he added.

We interrupt for moment of color from the speech:

As if on cue, the rally was interrupted by a heckler yelling, “You stole the election!” The crowd booed as the man was escorted out, holding his two fingers up like President Richard M. Nixon and taking a brief bow.

We return to the speech:

“What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden said. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something — it’s like semi-fascism.”

I’m not one to correct President Handsome JOE BIDEN, but it is like fascism. I’m not sure what semi means in this context except of course they don’t have control at the moment, but if a Republican looks, squawks, and steps like a goose, well, the Republican is a fascist.

I’m sure that there was much pearl clutching from Our Failed Political Press and of course the fascists themselves, but I don’t watch Morning Joe.

  1. I think it’s ‘semi’ because they don’t yet have the fancy Hugo Boss uniforms.

(And Biden is fundamentally incapable of letting go of the last tattered remnants of the “Tip-n-Ronnie” bipartisan era. He’s been soaking in it all his life)

If Dark Handsome Joe Biden wants to hold onto the tatters of bipartisanship, I’m inclined to overlook it as long as he keeps getting shit done. We aren’t getting our inner Veruca Salt sated by having everything right now, but the something we’re getting is infinitely better than the metric fuckton of nothing we’d get under MAGA-fascist control.

Agreed. And it’s about effing time this particular f-word was spoken openly. It’s the reality we’re facing.

Maybe we could call the GQP the “Wehraboo” Party. For more on this subject, see the below unbelievably funny (at least to me) rant.

Ten Grain is right, the modern(?) GQP is a fascist movement with all that entails. I’m still hopeful that the vast majority of Americans won’t tolerate it in that fascism only offers simple minded solutions to complex problems. We can do better if we (the sane people) stick together…

Not even half a loaf. The Rs WILL NOT CHANGE until the stench of MAGA permeates every one of them like a shart.

For reference, the Rs spent fory years complaining about that dirty hippie smell, until most of the actual dirty hippies were on Medicare.

No half measures – being in a knife fight means fighting like your opponent instead of holdoing back in an attempt at some kind of fake purity nobody cares about. If you think your country and government aren’t worth fighting to win for, just admit you don’t care enough to win, or care enough about our country.

I suggest we take that SEMI-fascism and make a meme of it, like starting here, maybe?
    But what do I know.
