Happy Hour News

“And my fifth point…”

The dumbest dude in the senate (and that’s sayin’ something) RoJo is determined to rescue his latest Social Security talking point from ridicule. As you may recall, RoJo is facing serious blowback after suggesting last week that Social Security and Medicare be eliminated as federal entitlement programs and instead become classified as discretionary spending. Imagine having to depend upon the kindness of Mitch McConnell for your retirement? The mind boggles. It also screams in terror.

Anyway, he’s back to talking ‘bout Social Security and his newest brain fart in what to do with it:

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, who faces a tough reelection battle in Wisconsin against Democratic Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, said during a Wednesday campaign stop that Social Security was “set up improperly” and that the program’s funds would have been better off invested in the stock market.

“What I want to do is I want to actually look at the problem and try and start fixing it,” the senator said, while also tying it to the current economic slowdown, a GOP talking point going into the midterm elections….

“I want workers here to take care of an elderly population, which I’m now part of, okay?” he told the audience. “Government and politicians have mishandled this horribly.”

What RoJo is neglecting to mention is that he has never worried where the next cheese sandwich is coming from, as his net worth is around $39-45 million Ameros.

    • Possible why Screwy Louie noped outta Congress. It’s really hard to beat the level of dumbth brought on by CTE (and the GOP really reached a new level of sheer evil making Walker their nominee. This is just an unconsionable level of callous sociopathy to use somone with obvious brain damage for political gain. )

  4. Senate races are state-wide, and therefore immune to gerrymander. US House seats are ALL gerrymandered, frequently shamelessly. Dems will take the US Senate in November, and Rethuglicans will take the US House of Representatives. Besides, Democrat Mandela Barnes is likeable, and RoJo is cold and distant. Rojo likely has a lock on Washington, Ozaukee, and Waukesha counties, because that’s where the Republican hives tend to infest. Counties with private colleges and subsets of the UW System tend to go Democrat. Winnebago County, where RoJo and I live, is home to UW-Oshkosh. Go Titans!

Put it in the stock market? Where was he in 2008?
It can’t be that he’s afraid of having to pay in SS tax for any amount of his annual payroll-taxable income over $147K (more than $4K over last year!), can it? Maybe some of his lobbyists are in that boat.

I still remember the time I dared to look at my 401K in December 2008…it was worth less than my to-date contributions.
