Today is the 21st anniversary of the day that Chimpy McStagger ignored (as usual) his daily briefing, preferring instead to ride his bike while on one of his countless vacations at his play ranch in Texas.
This photograph is from that day and this might indeed be Harriet Miers handing him the doomful document, “bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US.”
“All right. You’ve covered your ass.”
Really bad things happen when you put Republicans in charge of government, because their most basic belief is that all government is theft of freedom.

Well, that’s the device they use to manipulate the voters certainly, but those who run the joint are there to grift and steal everything that isn’t nailed down. And if it is nailed down, steal the thing it’s nailed to.

I wonder if even now Shrub understands what he did to the country? Probably not, or he’d never show his face again. It wasn’t treason as we saw lately, but it sure was a disaster that could have been avoided.
After all the Presidential High Points of my life, the peaceful end of the Cuban missile crisis, pulling out of Viet Nam, even minorly prosecuting the Watergate people, etc., this was a decidedly low point, and really all thanks go to Shrub.

Bush the dumber may have ignored his daily brief opting instead for a children’s book of rhymes, president cheney read and reread the thing to his MIC and oil buddies on a chartered yacht in the Persian gulf knowing all-too-well the millions he and his buddies would rake in for an ‘endless war on terror.’
