Happy Hour News

Texas-Area Patent Medicine Salesman Loses Case:

A Texas jury has ordered far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay the parents of a victim of the Sandy Hook school shooting $45.2 million in punitive damages. The same jury a day earlier awarded the family $4.1 million in compensatory damages, after Jones had been found liable for defamation by a judge over his claims the shooting was “a hoax.”

But before we do the Snoopy Happy Dance, we gotta know that this IS Texas, and well, they do thing different down there. Y’all, the magic of torte reform:

It’s Texas, Jake.

I am sure that if you asked the parents of the murdered children about the cap on any payments in Texas, they would tell you the fact that Jones’s attorney released 2 years of his clients communications more than makes up for the capped award. The reverberations of that act will echo for a long time, will touch so many evil people, will be a window into such crime that is is worth more than money. Just my take on it. It was never the money.

I suppose I shouldn’t body shame but Jones is 16 years younger than me and looks just as old if not older. Who is stupid enough to buy his supplements if it makes him look like a 64 year old?
