The #IllegitimateSCOTUS Gives Big Easy To GOP

Opus Dei and SCOTUS Chief Justice John Roberts

The #Illegitimate SCOTUS has said that racial gerrymanders are not acceptable, but it keeps allowing obvious racial gerrymanders to stand:

The Supreme Court issued an order Tuesday reinstating Louisiana’s congressional map, meaning the state will hold the 2022 elections under district lines a federal judge had struck down for violating the Voting Rights Act.

The decision from the high court resets the map, for at least the 2022 election, to one Republican legislators drew earlier this year.

This is one of those Shadow Docket decisions that go unsigned, but given that the 3 liberals dissented, you can guess that this would be another 6-3 decision if it made it to the Court, and as we all know Chief Justice John Roberts dislikes the Voting Rights Act.

This decision is the last map case before the 2022 Pie Fight; all other map fights will wait until 2023 or 2024 to be litigated, so this will probably be the lay of the land for the 2024 Goat Rodeo, too. Also.

We’re totally eff’ed in the dark.

    • I”m still holding my breath for the expected ruling in EPA v West Virginia, where they will completely dynamite over 100 years of precedent in Executive Branch regulation. Google ‘Non-delegation’. If they go as far as they did in Dobbs and NY Pistol club, this blows up everything from the EPA to the FDA. It’s back to Gilded Age Snake Oil and completely unregulated pollution and worker protections.

Basically the Oligarchs wet dream to go with the Fundagelicals wet dreams over Roe.

Given how they’re rewriting the constitution lately I expect it will be as bad as it gets, and it will be small comfirt that they’ll burn along with the rest of us because reality doesn’t give a flying fuck about their libertarian principles. Global warming doesn’t care if you believe it or not.

With each of these decisions, millions of additional Americans realize the illegitimacy of this court. It’s time to start impeaching.

Whenever I see that there is a redistricting issue before them, it’s a foregone conclusion it’s going to favor the GQP. You can consider it their new “rule of law” in redistricting cases. They are not even pretending to be neutral anymore.

So far as I’m concerned, we no longer have a functioning Supreme Court, just a gang of six super legislators in judicial robes. What TFG is to the Executive Branch, these hacks are to the Judiciary Branch.

      • precisely, they ruled in a Wisconsin State case that expanding representation to minorities violated the VRA just last month. It’s like they no longer even care about the slightest fig leaf of legitimacy. *”We have the power to do this and fuck you is all the explanation you’ll get”

Always helpful to remember that chief justice Roberts spent his early years assisting chief justice William Rehnquist challenging voters eligibility on grounds of excessive melanin, and and William Rehnquist spent his formative years spent time challenging voters due to excessive melanin. Then Robert’s went on to gut the VRA in Shelby County and left a bit of the VRA for Alito to gut in Brnovich leaving and empty husk where the Right to Vote used to be. So yeah, that asshole achieving the shitiest of goals.

Yes, lest anyone think “Mr. Balls and Strikes” is any less a lawless sonofabitch than his even more new radical BFFs on the Court. His VRA decision is incredibly damaging to the functioning of democracy in this country, beginning with his outrageous, fact-free declaration that we no longer have racial discrimination in this country as a justification for nullifying essential legislative protections for minorities. That decision is a stunning abuse of judicial power.
