    Okay, so about Texas’ bounty law, IANAL so I gotta ask:

    In order for one of these cash-grab cases to proceed, they’re going to have to prove an abortion actually occurred, which means PHI spillage has to have also occurred. How would this NOT be trumped by a HIPAA countersuit? Even if the bounty is awarded, the winner will be on the hook for ten times as much under federal law, to say nothing of criminal liability.

    Wife and I are medical billers, so we’re down with HIPAA – and thoroughly confused about how these cases, in the face of HIPAA, can even be brought in the first place.
