Legitimate Rape, Revisited
Another Republican candidate —Yesli Vega the GOP nominee in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District and who is a woman, allegedly— tells her potential voters that, you know, rape might not lead to pregnancy:
“Well, maybe because there’s so much going on in the body, I don’t know. I haven’t seen any studies. But if I’m processing what you’re saying, it wouldn’t surprise me, because it’s not something that’s happening organically. Right? You’re forcing it.”
The conversation was about abortion and exceptions to abortion bans.
As you may recall when Akin tried this gambit, it was also to claim that if a woman got pregnant, it couldn’t be a “legitimate rape.” You remember, because the woman’s body has a way of shutting that down.
Vega is not slut shaming as hard as Akin, but organically is pretty close to shutting that down.
We are awarding Ms. Vega a Golden Schlafly in her efforts to set back women’s progress. Vega is running against Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.).

Every time one of these people opens their pie hole they confirm that their aim in banning abortion is to control women. If they oppose abortion in the case of rape, they could just say abortion is murder, and the embryo/fetus isn’t responsible for the rape. But by saying pregnancy can’t result from rape (with no evidence), they are saying every pregnant woman is pregnant because actions she has chosen, so she should just control her actions (i.e., not have sex) if she doesn’t want to a carry a pregnancy to term.

Sweet Sally O’Malley- the absolute dunderheadedness of people in positions of power who don’t grasp even the basics of how a body works is astonishing. Even worse is their absence of shame/pride in their stoopid.

It would be an awesome superpower for women to have, to be able shut it all down. Ideally that would be done in such a way as to shrivel up the rapist’s private parts and render them forever useless. But, alas it is all just fantasy that women can control pregnancy in that manner. Just a lie the right wing tell themselves so they can justify taking all other control of their own bodies away from women.

It tends to look like the fight of religion and the patriarchy trying to maintain their hold on our society.
And the Fascists also trying to convince us Democracy loving folks that fascism is all kind and caring except for the “others”.

Also, the problem of electing the son’s of rich men who don’t want anything else in the world except to be BMOC (big man on campus), and will do anything to feel that way. Like Trump, George Bush the lesser, and more than a few of the so called pundits on TV and print. Like just about all of the Fox propaganda pundits, and some pundits on the Big Three, NBC, CBS and ABC.
The Fascists have a voice on network and cable TV these days and their voice is ensconced in lots of code words and eye winking.
The House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 2021 insurrection is shinning a light on all of this. As our Democracy is suppose to do in defense of our Nation, the Constitution and the rule of law.
