“Calling Mike Pence…”

I could only watched part of the Jan 6 Hearing today  but I was there for the Rollo Tamasi moment:

“Just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican Congressmen.” – Hair Füror

—Documented in realtime by Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue on Dec. 27, 2020

In 17 words, Trump revealed that: 1) he was a central part of the plotting and planning and scheming, and B) he knew goddamn well that the election results were legitimate. He slipped and forgot about plausible deniability. The gun, it smokes.

There’s no doubt that Prznint Stupid knew what he was doing was illegal (the DOJ told him repeatedly, but he did it any way), and he tried to put Jeffrey Clark  —a third-rate environmental lawyer— into the Acting AG role because this dude was willing to overthrow democracy for Hair Füror:

The only reason Prznint Stupid didn’t do it was he was told mass resignations — possibly “hundreds and hundreds of them” — would occur, which is not a good look, and for those of you who tell me I put too much of an emphasis on the optics of a situation, well, BITE ME. The optics of DOJ attorneys resigning en masse saved our democracy.

We also learned that at least 6 Republican representatives sought pardons:

  • Reps. Matt Gaetz
  • Mo Brooks
  • Andy Biggs
  • Marjorie Taylor Greene
  • Louis Gohmert
  • Scott Perry

And as my daddy said, you don’t ask for a pardon unless you think you committed a crime.

Last night I was listening to the Legal AF podcast and one of the hosts who is/was a federal prosecutor said that the Jan 6 Committee is presenting this as a legal case, and indicated that if she was working on this that the shakedown in Georgia is pretty much watertight, and that the Georgia AG has the best shot at putting Trump behind bars. But that was last night, the hearings today might change their opinions.

UPDATE 1: I should have added the link to the full hearing if anyone needs to catch-up.

You don’t ask for a pardon if you didn’t commit a crime, because you don’t get a pardon unless you commit a crime. A pardon isn’t a proclamation of innocence, it is forgiveness for guilt.

Pretty sure no one is going to bite you. At worst, a biting comment or two. Not sure if TFG had the mental ability to make a rational decision based on the looks of a sad development. I’m guessing some rational person made the case to him, and he just gave in. I’ve heard that the committee will release the names of everyone on record who requested a pardon. Probably a bigger list than you have, or at least I hope it’s bigger. Cindy T and myself watched most of the hearing, and I have to say that it was quite impressive and compelling. It’s become must see TV for the two of us…

Republican “bad ass” political crimers just don’t give one that uh-oh feeling in the no-no spot. Anyone hoping for a modern day remake of The Getaway with this murderer’s row of pinch faced peck sniffs will just have to settle for dinesh and his mule act instead.
    Sad Trombone.

There was also something about at least one person wanting a pardon that covered everything for their entire life – something beyond a blanket pardon.

These are terrorists, and should be held (along with those already arrested from the insurrection and attempted coup) in Gitmo. Let them be interrogated by GW standards.
