Britt Boots Brooks in ‘Bama (Yesterday’s Election Results Today!)

H/T Scissorhead Skinny-D

In case yesterday’s 1/6 Committee hearing didn’t have enough unhappy news for twice-impeached LOSER ex-prznint Stupid, the election results from yesterday—in Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, and D.C.—was that he got smacked upside the head, real good. Tiger Beat on the Potomac email thingie gives us the run-down:

In Alabama’s GOP Senate primary runoff, KATIE BRITT handily defeated Rep. MO BROOKS, marking an end to a feud that divided MAGA-world, our Natalie Allison reports. (Trump memorably gave Brooks his endorsement, retracted after his campaign floundered, then threw his support behind Britt.)

Instructive quote:

“Donald Trump is disconnected from the base. … It’s time for those of us in the movement to get back to basics, back to our first principles. … We were here long before President Trump came along, and we’re going to be here long afterward.”

AMY KREMER, chair of Women for America First and an organizer of Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021 rally

And now, the Debbil went down bigly in Georgeduh:

    • GA-10: Businessman MIKE COLLINS crushed VERNON JONES, a Trump-endorsed former Democratic state representative-turned-MAGA Republican, winning by nearly 50 points.
    • In GA-06: RICH MCCORMICK, who had the backing of Cruz, the Club for Growth and Americans for Prosperity, defeated Trump-endorsed JAKE EVANS by a more than 2-to-1 margin
    • SHOCKER IN GA-02: Despite being outspent by a 10-to-1 margin, CHRIS WEST won the GOP runoff against JEREMY HUNT, a 28-year-old Black Republican, former U.S. Army captain, West Point graduate and current Yale Law student who many Washington GOP insiders saw as a top recruit. (Here’s a big WaPo story on him from Monday.) Since early May, two outside PACs, American Patriots PAC and American Values First, have spent more than $1.4 million boosting Hunt’s campaign, per the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.

I’ll be glad if the GOP abandons Trump. The replacement will likely also be horrible, but probably won’t have Trump’s charisma (yeah, I don’t see it either, but they say Hitler had charisma and I never got that).

I like the cat graphic. I feel like that every time I vote. I’ll always vote for the Democrat (because the GOP is so monstrous), but I don’t really like Democrats. I started to list some reasons, but I don’t really want to get into a debate on the Democrats. Let’s focus on the GOP, where I think we all agree.

It’s the bus metaphor. If the bus is going toward your ideal destination and the other guy’s bus is going the other way, get on the bus. Walking won’t get you there fast enough to counteract the other guy’s bus.
