Texas Republicans Set Agenda

Texas —America’s Lab for Bad Policy— had their GOP Convention:

Meeting at their first in-person convention since 2018, Texas Republicans on Saturday acted on a raft of resolutions and proposed platform changes to move their party even further to the right.

They approved measures declaring that President Joe Biden ‘was not legitimately elected’ and rebuking Sen. John Cornyn for taking part in bipartisan gun talks.

They also voted on a platform that declares homosexuality ‘an abnormal lifestyle choice’ and calls for Texas schoolchildren should be taught ‘to learn about the Humanity of the Preborn Child.’

In other words it was just a normal day for them.

In other related news:

Rep. Dan Crenshaw and his staff were violently confronted at the Republican Party of Texas convention a short time ago, when far-right social media activist Alex Stein and others whom witnesses described as Proud Boys began shouting “eyepatch McCain” at him – an attempted insult coined by Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson.

And this genius video’ed himself:

If you are not aware, Dan Crenshaw is really tiny, like Ben Shapiro-sized:

Who knew that Stetson made 1-gallon hats?

… and this yelling guy is apparently some sort of freakish giant.

Anyway, the convention had it all:

  • secession talk
  • violence
  • othering of LGBTQ people
  • The Big Lie

Texas Republicans are a special breed of crazy, I used to think it was the heat, but then why are Texas Democrats so cool (Hey, Beto!) and seemingly normal. ’Tis a mystery.

I read the synopsis of the platform earlier this morning. They sped right past Bircher into a whole new realm of hate, spite and crazy.

I lived in Texass during my younger years. It’s where I learned to hunt. It was still a good place to grow up back then. I’m really sorry to see them devolve into organized hatred and disorganized insanity. Seems America may be slipping once again toward 1860…

These are not serious idiots. More of the dangerous random kind. What’s up with the eyepatches and black cowboy hats? They play pretend games and go home to jackoff and count their likes.
You didn’t ask, but it is disgusting.

They declare that jobs are “a fundamental right”

Jobs Are Essential: We urge the Texas State Legislature to adopt legislation that recognizes and establishes all businesses and jobs as essential and a fundamental right. Governments do not have the authority to determine what entities are essential during an emergency.

That sounds like sochulism to me…
