Then and Now, Now and Then

I might not know much (coming from a University of California education), but I can compare and contrast with the best of ’em. Anyway, today’s lesson comes from would-be Nevada Secretary of State and Big Lie enthusiast Jim Marchant!

Jim Marchant Then:

“Your vote hasn’t counted for decades,” Marchant said during a candidate forum in February, according to The Associated Press. “You haven’t elected anybody. The people that are in office have been selected. You haven’t had a choice.”

Jim Marchant Now:

“I am beyond humbled by the overwhelming support of our campaign. Nevadans made their voices heard,” Marchant declared on social media.

This is a feature and not a bug for The Big Lie supporters in the midterms. It’s all rigged until it isn’t, and somehow this makes sense to them.

Anyway, the larger point here is that these Secretaries of State are going to be on the ballots this fall all over the country, who won their primaries and will either win the general election (and then work to disenfranchise voters and tamper with elections) or will lose and return to claiming FRAUD!

I don’t have any genius idea for how to combat them, other than point out that they won their primaries, so why rigged then/now and not now/then?

It’s madness to argue with them.

  2. Hello all. It is all about the Republican / right wing idea that only they deserve or should be in office. No Democrat who wins is legitimate as only Republicans have the right to hold office. Bill Clinton complained about this back during his term, that Republicans simply wouldn’t recognize any Democrat as officially elected because in their mind no Democrat should be elected and shouldn’t ever hold office. Take that to the extreme end point and you have the Republican party overturning an election because they simply don’t feel a Democract should win over a Republican. Damn we were warned about this 30 years ago and failed to understand how much the party machine believed it, and then could get the public to go along with them. Hugs

He could be pitching an underdog story, where coming out on top is just the ending they deserve. In other news, Biden is causing massive inflation and high gas prices, also he is doing nothing. Makes him the perfect villain to campaign against.
