Opinions Differ!

Republican Legitimate Political Discourse

We learn about the pre-January 6 tours:

The Jan. 6 select committee is in possession of documentary footage showing a man who took part in a Jan. 5 tour of the Capitol complex with Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) outside the Capitol the following day, yelling threats at members of Congress – including Speaker Nancy Pelosi – as the insurrection raged.

The select committee has video of this person taking part in the Loudermilk tour on Jan. 5, as well as documentary footage of the same man outside the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Please read these Twitter threads:

But according to Tiger Beat on the Potomac (thanks Charlie!) email thingie, Opinions Differ:

LOUDER(MILK) FOR PEOPLE IN THE BACKCapitol Police Chief Thomas Manger sent a letter this week detailing Rep. Barry Loudermilk’s (R-Ga.) pre-Jan. 6, 2021 tour, specifically noting that none of the activity Capitol Police observed on Jan. 5 tours qualified as “suspicious” or evidence of “reconnaissance” by would-be rioters. More from Kyle and Nicholas on the ever-changing narrative about this tour. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board is calling for the select committee on Jan. 6 to apologize to Loudermilk.

So I think we will pay attention to this storyline as the hearings progress. Line forms to the rear!

  1. The Capitol was closed to tours at the time; part of the COVID regulations. Manger asks us to believe him or our lying eyes.

    • I watched Rachel Maddow’s show last night which lead with this story (because she’s been on it since shortly after Jan6…) two BIG things of interest:

1: The Chiefs letter explicitly covered ONLY the Capitol building itself. These tours were in the Congressional Office buildings surrounding the capitol; the ones connected by tunnels to the Capitol itself.

2: Rachel had Rep. Mikie Sherril on last night (She raised the initial alarm about the tours the day before) and asked her directly whether the group with Loudermilk was the group she saw. Rep. Sherrill (a former prosecutor) very carefully did not answer that question. Not sure if Rachel caught it but I sure as hell did. Rep Sherrill has stated that she witnessed tours being given. This means there are more videos and more Goopers involved.

I suppose the stair-enthusiast from 1/5 could publicly step forward and voluntarily account for his whereabouts on 1/6.

Yes… taking pictures of security checkpoints, building entrances, and secured office building corridors is such an ordinary thing to do. Nothing to see here. Nothing suspicious.

  6. I wonder if all these Republicans loudly proclaiming “nuh UUUH!” to revelations like this and the pardons thing have bothered to understand that the J6 Committee has been working for months entirely in the dark to them since K-Mac flounced away and the party made mortal enemies of the two Republicans on the Committee.

Kinzinger is a nice enough guy, but jaysus they made an enemy of the woman who is the daughter of a guy who forced a friend to apologise for getting shot in the face by the guy.

No chance for a Devin’s Midnight Ride this time, and everyone working on the committee is deadly serious and worse, deadly competent and furiously angry.

They wouldn’t release shit like this if they didn’t have the proof. These Are Not Republicans Running This Investigation and the GQP is continually getting smacked around by punches they’re entirely failing to see coming.

The J6 Committee’s motto should take after Arby’s: “We have the meats receipts!”

Yeah, and some of those Committee members are an ex-school teacher in Mississippi (Thompson); mayor (Aguilar); an ex-prosecutor (Adam Schiff, asst USAttorney); constitutional law attorney (Jamie Raskin); have JDs (Cheney, Lofgren); Luria, a Naval Academy graduate and Commander; Murphy (born in Ho Chi Minh), was a national security specialist in the Defense Dept. They are smart and dedicated people.
