Before we get in too deep on this story, we need some background on why it is important (Republican hypocrisy, say it ain’t so!). Rep. Lauren Boebert —she of the gun holster wait staff at her restaurant Shooter’s Grill —has proclaimed herself to be a gundamentalist, life-begins-at-conception pro-lifer, and family values Republican and Christian, and she recently/jokingly prayed that Joe Biden dies. She’s a pro at this crap.
So when the PAC that brought down Roller Nazi Madison Cawthorn has her in their sights, well, we pay attention:
It’s not the allegations of sex work (seriously, who cares?), it’s that Boebert campaigns as an anti-abortion fundamentalist and —IF TRUE!— she’s had two, well that’s the kind of hypocrisy that needs to be called out. She’s about controlling women other than herself.
Now before you do your Snoopy Happy Dance, please note that what made the Cawthorn allegations so damning is that they had clear video evidence of his hypocrisy (claims of cocaine-fueled sex orgies, women’s lingerie, the reach-arounds, and humping other boys —maybe his cousin!), and for obvious reasons they don’t have photographic evidence on the abortions. The allegations of escort work includes some advertising photos that may or may not be her, nothing salacious, really. It’s speculative.
One thing in the press release that jumped out at me is that after Ayatollah Ted Cruz “met” with Boebert, he encouraged her to run and ends up donated more than $120K Ameros.
A quick check at OpenSecrets.org did not reveal said donations, and in fact most of Cruz’ donations top out at $10K. Money is easier to track and something ain’t right there.
An enterprising journalist who is good at chasing finances should look into it because it implies a transaction out of the ordinary. Ted Cruz would cough up that kind of money for an unknown candidate in another state, well, as I said, something ain’t right.
You tell me if Heidi Cruz is happy learning about that donation today.
PS – Boebert shoulda kept her old job:
