Peter Navarro looting as he leaves the White House (2021)
Jared Kushner’s hand-selected-from-Amazon China Trade Expert Peter Navarro has been arrested and charged with Contempt of Congress for failing to appear under subpoena, which oddly proves that the DOJ might actually be functioning on some level.
Axios (so all the weird formatting and enigmatic bullet usage is theirs):
A federal grand jury has indicted former Trump administration aide Peter Navarro on two counts of contempt of Congress.
The latest: In his first court appearance on Friday, Navarro accused the prosecutors of misconduct, saying that he was allegedly not allowed to make a call from jail and that they did not contact his attorneys, which he had requested.
- Navarro also revealed that he was not arrested at home but at an airport when he was about to go on a trip.
- While he has an attorney that has been assigned to him by the court, Navarro said that he would be speaking for himself.
Fool for a client and all that. Also: seems weird he could be arrested at an airport and there are not pictures of the arrest. No one had phones?
The big picture: The select committee has referred multiple members of former President Trump’s inner circle to the Justice Department for contempt in hopes of extracting their first-hand accounts and documents, including Dan Scavino and Mark Meadows.
- Former White House strategist Steve Bannon was also referred to the DOJ for contempt and he was indicted by a federal grand jury in November.
What’s next: Each count of contempt of Congress is punishable by a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of up to $100,000, according to the DOJ.
Always be closing:
So he’s got that working for him.
First off Peter Navarro has effectively end his career via careeracide. George Takei has something to say…

Don’t buy his book. Go to the library instead, IF you must.

As he was getting on the plane to a country that does not have an extradition treaty with the US?

Well he was headed to Tennessee, so…maybe?
Just watched Mehdi Hasan tell that tale tonight , including Navarro’s disastrous interview last night on Ari Melber’s show where Ari said “You do know they can hear you on this show?” as Navarro confessed to crime after crime.
Navarro told the arraigning judge today “I am not a lawyer, but I do have legal expertise”.
I believe this is officially called the “Holiday Inn Express” defense.

I do not get this: 1) Navarro complains the prosecutors would not call his attorneys; 2) The court appoints an attorney to represent him; 3) He intends to speak for himself.
These things do not make sense together. So, did his attorneys refuse to represent him? Can he not afford an attorney, poor thing? Apparently he can afford plane tickets. And, besides, he doesn’t want an attorney anyway, so he’s complaining that prosecutors deprived him of something he didn’t want? The man is not just crazy, he’s crazy in every direction.

This is what you get when you say screw you to a legal subpoena and refuse to show up. Any of us would be arrested also. He wants and expects special privileges. And elected to office Republican Louie Gohmert is shitting himself that the elites might have to follow the laws also. He is stunned that Republicans are not allowed to just lie to congress or the FBI. Arresting a former White House adviser, oh what is the world coming to. Next they won’t be able to take big money bribes. Save the children before it is too late, sell them a gun quick. Hugs
