Meadows to Paper Trail: Burn, Baby, Burn

The Stupid Coup

Lucky #4 Mark Meadows

Well, this is not good news for Lucky #4:

Meadows burned papers after meeting with Scott Perry, Jan. 6 panel told

It seems Perry was the guy who was trying to get Jeffrey Clark to be the new, acting head of the DOJ who would overthrow the whole shebang:

Before the 2020 election, Perry — who represents the Harrisburg, Pa. region — had a relatively low national profile. But testimony and documents obtained by congressional investigators show he was the first person to connect Trump with Jeffrey Clark, a top Justice Department official who sympathized with the then-president’s efforts to overturn his loss to Joe Biden.

I do not know for a fact that the Chief of Staff is held to the same legislation as the President insofar as the Presidential Records Act goes, but I would guess that would be true. And until someone actually alleges a crime (looking at you, Garland), I don’t know that this is destroying evidence, but it sure looks like it.

  1. Yes, everyone in the west wing is subject to those laws, and this is absol-fucking-lutely actionable evidence of a crime.

They’re in the ‘does not bind’ in-group:

There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

How is he going to write a best-selling memoir if he burns all the juicy stuff?
