Jeebusland Not Ready For Baby Boom Post Roe

Axios morning email thingie is already looking at the knock-on effect if all the forced birthing proceeds according to their plan (emboldening is theirs as is enigmatic bullet usage):

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, an increase in births could strain safety nets, Axios’ Caitlin Owens writes.

  • Why it matters: The red states poised to ban or severely limit abortion already tend to have limited access to health care — and fewer programs in place for mothers and children. Abortion bans would also likely put more pressure on U.S. foster and adoption systems.

“What we’re facing as a country is hundreds of thousands of births, probably disproportionately located in the states that have been most limited in what they do for pregnant women, infants and children,” said Sara Rosenbaum, a health law and policy professor at George Washington University.

  • “We have not ever designed these programs for a world without Roe,” she added. “You need a child welfare system, the likes of which we’ve never seen.”

Zoom out: Experts say there’s already a growing shortage of obstetricians.

  • In 2020, more than 2 million women of childbearing age lived in counties that had no hospital offering obstetric care, no birth center and no obstetric provider, according to a report by March of Dimes.

Red states in the middle of the country — many of which will automatically ban abortion if Roe is overturned — are particularly likely to have a high number of maternity care deserts.

And that’s an accurate and very grim assessment of the situation at the street level: Red States do NOT have the infrastructure to take on this extra population growth, nor do they want to.

These mooks are pushing for more births and yet there are large areas that cannot support the prenatal needs of prospective parents already?
And Axios is warning about inadequate safety nets when they are already inadequate? I think Biden’s EO (I think) for Economic Impact payments for taxpayers with children raising thousands of children out of poverty – and the expiration of those payments dropping them right back into poverty – is a good indicator that the safety net is already shredded.
I want to snark at this, but it just isn’t there.

  5. They don’t care about life; they don’t care about babies. Their goal is to subjugate women; seen in this light all of their decisions make absolute sense. This is why they flood the zone with lies, because they know their true agenda is horrific to the vast majority of people.

Let us not forget that their ultimate goal is to drown babies in bathtubs.

Oh, they’re ready. They are well practiced at not caring, and will continue to excel at “fuck you, I got mine” for as long as it takes. The fact that “others” will be suffering is just a bonus – a big bonus, but that is all it is.
