As all the flags go to half-mast to grimly acknowledge One Million Dead Americans from the Trump-Virus, we’re eff’ed in the dark again:
WASHINGTON (AP) — White House COVID-19 coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha issued a dire warning Thursday that the U.S. will be increasingly vulnerable to the coronavirus this fall and winter if Congress doesn’t swiftly approve new funding for more vaccines and treatments.
In an Associated Press interview, Jha said Americans’ immune protection from the virus is waning, the virus is adapting to be more contagious and booster doses for most people will be necessary — with the potential for enhanced protection from a new generation of shots…
“All of these variants were first identified outside of the United States,” he said. “If the goal is to protect the American people, we have got to make sure the world is vaccinated. I mean, there’s just no domestic-only approach here.”
And Der Tiger Beat auf dem Potomac (thanks Charlie!) morning email thingie alerts us:
— Officials in the White House are trying to figure out how to fight the pandemic with a shoestring budget. “Among the sacrifices being weighed are limiting access to its next generation of vaccines to only the highest-risk Americans — a rationing that would have been unthinkable just a year ago.”
That’s the death panels right there brought to us by The Republican Party:
Senate Republicans have stalled the funding request for weeks over demands they first get an unrelated vote on President Joe Biden’s decision to end Covid-era border restrictions. Despite Biden administration warnings the U.S. could record 100 million more infections through the fall and winter, some GOP lawmakers are also separately skeptical that there’s an urgent need for more money, accusing the administration of failing to account for the hundreds of billions of dollars it has already spent.
So when your friends and family starts dying again, know that it was because of Republican racism at the border.

This is insane. They’ll probably kill off more red voters.
Got my third shot 12/15, so I’m due. Thankfully, I can afford a 4th shot out of pocket if need be.
The mumps nearly killed me in 1968 (or thereabouts). I’m not messing with this. Nobody should have to.

Complacency kills. Knowledge kills, denial.
There are choices, but, a lot make the wrong ones, still.
RIP.

“COVID-19 has served as a catalyst for radicalization,” said the study’s author, Ciaran O’Connor, an analyst at the London-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue. “It allows conspiracy theorists or extremists to create simple narratives, framing it as us versus them, good versus evil.”
Us versus them and good versus evil huh? And I thought we were in this together. The article is entitled “Far-right using COVID-19 theories to grow reach,” and it seems to be working even though they are the ones most likely to die (stupidity). It’s a short article…
