News That Will Drive You to Drink

Opus Dei, er,  SCOTUS unanimously ruled on Monday that Boston had violated the First Amendment rights of a group seeking to briefly raise a Christian flag atop a city flagpole outside of City Hall as a part of a city program celebrating Boston’s greater community. And you’ll never guess what happened next:

(CNN)The Satanic Temple in Massachusetts is requesting that Boston fly its flag, after the Supreme Court ruled this week that the city had violated the First Amendment rights of a Christian group when it denied them flying their flag outside of City Hall.

According to a copy of the request tweeted by The Satanic Temple, the group is asking Boston to fly the flag for “Satanic Appreciation Week” on July 23-29. The Satanic Temple said its request was in response to the recent ruling.

The ripples from those religious freedom cases go exceedingly far and fast, and I for one can hardly wait for the Flying Spaghetti Monster flag with all it’s noodly goodness to fly over Boston.

In the meanwhile, ¡HAIL SATAN!!1!

Satan appeared before a small town congregation. Everyone started screaming and running for the front church door, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away. Soon everyone was gone except for an elderly gentleman who sat calmly. Satan walked up to him and said, “Don’t you know who I am?” The man replied, “Yep, sure do.” Satan asked, “Aren’t you going to run?” “Nope, sure ain’t,” said the man. Satan asked, “Why aren’t you afraid of me?”
The man replied, “Been married to your sister for over 48 years.”

OMG. Who could have possibly predicted this was going to happen? However, it was very irresponsible of them not to have speculated.

I don’t know why they would mind. Satan is as much a anger as Gabriel is.

    • Just imagine a weekend hour spent praising Her Noodliness! I was taught to eschew activities requiring new clothes, so I will continue to be leery of this entire enterprise!

    When’s Gay Pride Week?

  8. I can confidently state that if Boston refuses this, and it goes to the SCOTUS they will have no problem whatsoever ruling in the exactly opposite way since ‘freedum of religion’ in this country only applies to certain religions…and in the dystopian theocratic fascist United States they want, that list will shrink considerably.

Opus Dei might just get the surprise of their lives (deaths) because the American Taliban really doesn’t consider catholicism a real religion, either.
