President Handsome Joe Biden
(undated file photo)
“This is the first time the president has attended this dinner in six years. It’s understandable. We had a horrible plague – followed by two years of Covid.”
“Just imagine if my predecessor came to this dinner this year. Now that would really have been a real coup.” —President Handsome Joe Biden at the Nerd Prom last night
Hilarious!, at least for anyone with a sense of humor.

And naturally, the Reich Wing is all butthurt, furious that their Glorious Orange God was mocked in such a fashion. The utter hypocrisy and total lack of self-awareness of these people would be amusing if it weren’t so pathetically sad.

As a Twitter genius @stonekettle would say…..
“No more self-awareness than a dog licking its asshole on the sidewalk in front of the Town Hall on Main St.”

Trevor Noah ripped them a new one, Colbert-style, but in the most polite possible way (forgive the longish quote, couldn’t find a transcript):
If you ever begin to doubt your responsibilities, if you ever begin to doubt how meaningful it is, look no further than Ukraine. Look at what’s happening there. Journalists are risking and even losing their lives to show the world what’s really happening. You realize how amazing it is. Like, in America, you have the right to seek the truth and speak the truth, even if it makes people in power feel uncomfortable, even if it makes your viewers or your readers uncomfortable.
You understand how amazing that is? I stood here tonight, and I made fun of the President of the United States, and I’m going to be fine. I’m going to be fine, right? (Looking at Biden, audience laughter) Like, do you really understand what a blessing it is? Maybe it’s happened for so long, it’s slipped your mind. It’s a blessing.
Ask yourself this question, honestly, ask yourself this question: If Russian journalists, who are losing their livelihoods, as you were talking about, and their freedom, for daring to report on what their own government is doing, if they had the freedom to write any words, to show any stories, or to ask any questions, if they basically had what you have, would they be using it in the same way that you do? Ask yourself that question every day. Because you have one of the most important roles in the world.
Most of that audience should have slunk away in shame.

Haven’t watched it, but was just reading about Trevor Noah’s remarks, that is strong!

I thought Biden was great: his timing and delivery just right—and he was far more generous to the press about their importance to our democracy under assault than most of them have been to him.
