Nice!
I think they kind of tolerate the cats as long as they mostly stick to the garden center. Keeps the rodents from taking over.
Pet food is right next to the garden center, though – quite a temptation for the felines.

Same here. Almost caught one there 2 weeks ago. Someone’s feeding them in the garden center, under the plants (or, they are stealing the easy-open cat food (ie: Sheba, it was they brand/type the cat was eating from)) from the Pet dept (also next to the garden dept). Walmart can be a sonofabitch but it also has heart.

True – but it does depend on which store you are in.
The cats here have become less, um, “official”. A few years ago I overheard one of the maintenance guys training up a new guy on cleaning up the garden department. The part I heard was where the cat litter was, how to change it, where to put the water and cat food – it was pretty cool. And also it was pretty far away from the people food, so easier to tolerate then when the sparrows were flying around in the bakery.
