The Grand Jury looking into the one-man crime wave we know as twice-impeached LOSER ex-prznint Stupid expires today:
(CNN)A special grand jury seated to hear evidence in the Manhattan district attorney’s investigation into the Trump Organization’s finances is set to expire at the end of the week and will not be extended, people familiar with the investigation tell CNN.
The six-month special grand jury, which was empaneled in October, heard evidence late last year from several witnesses, including reporters to whom former President Donald Trump boasted about his personal wealth. Presentations to the grand jury were halted earlier this year after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was sworn into office and raised concerns about the strength of the evidence.
Our pals over at Electoral-Vote see 4 possibilities:
What does this mean? Who knows? We can see at least four possibilities:
- Bragg has what he needs, and an announcement about filing charges is imminent.
- Bragg does not need a grand jury at the moment, and so did not want to leave the members in limbo, since he can always reconvene a new grand jury in the future.
- Bragg wants a different grand jury, maybe because this one wasn’t giving him what he wanted, or was growing weary of serving.
- Bragg is trying to wind this down, as quickly and quietly as is possible, since he has no intention of pursuing the matter.
If it is the latter explanation, it does run contrary to Bragg’s public pronouncements that this investigation is still very much in effect. Also, since we don’t know what the New Yorkers have come up with, nor do we know the nuances of New York law, he don’t know exactly what authority AG Tish James has here. However, we would have to imagine that if Trump broke laws that are in the purview of the Manhattan DA, then he certainly broke laws that are in the purview of the New York State attorney general, and that James would pick up the ball if Bragg decided to drop it.
That sounds about right to me.
I still think NY voters should run Bragg out of town just on principle that he eff’ed this thing up when taking office as demonstrated by the very abrupt departure of two senior prosecutors, who felt the need to write public explanations of why they left.
I want to be wrong, of course, but, little beam of sunlight that I am, I think that Lord Damp Nut is going to escape again. I have no hope for accountability because there is a club and we are not in it. And Vulgarmore is.
