Happy Hour News
The crowds assembled Friday morning ahead of an arriving train, jostling for space on the platform and in the main hall. It was then that at least one missile struck the station, tearing through the evacuees, at least 50 of whom were killed. Another 98 were wounded, according to the regional governor.
Washington Post reporters arrived at the train station in Kramatorsk, a city in the Donetsk region, about 15 minutes after the attack and counted at least 20 dead, including children. A large piece of a missile had landed about 100 yards from the building entrance. On one side, the words “for the children” were written in Russian.
Prosecute the bastards for war crimes.
Clarification: the war crime is the attack on the train station. The text on the missile is reprehensible, but not a crime.
I’m all for prosecuting war crimes, but I’m suspicious of the message. While written in Russian, it could have easily been written by a Ukrainian patriot who was thinking it would generate more outrage. I’m already outraged by all the atrocities that we’ve all seen and think that we should do the right thing in regards to war crimes, but I need some proof that this message was written by a Russian, although the general nature of aggressive Russian warfare is to eliminate the civilian resistance. And that is exactly what Putin is demanding. So while I have questions, I can believe the Russians would have done such a thing…

I get it, and I’m with you because I’m not sure I’m above writing something like that on a missile if I were in that position.

I agree that it needs to be investigated, as do all the other war crimes. Of course, Russia invaded and so they in a way are responsible for everything that follows. But that does not mean that every atrocity was committed by Russians. Ukraine always claims they were, but they want more weapons, and Russian atrocities help. I don’t see what Russia gains – more sanctions and more weapons for Ukraine. That doesn’t mean they didn’t do it, but it needs to be investigated. Just because Ukraine is the victim of aggression doesn’t mean there aren’t some nasty people in their military.

Worth noting that the writing on the missile isn’t the war crime. The fact that it was launched, and where it landed is the war crime – and that is very much undeniably on Putin’s Russian.

I don’t mean to seem cruel or heartless, but this is a war going on. Horrible stuff is normal in a war, not to say we should be immune to it.
It’s the damn War that must be stopped. The individual atrocities will continue to add up until the aggression itself is stopped. Why waste energy worrying about who wrote on a missile when the missiles are still being launched?
I’m sick of this war and the war porn going around. It just needs to be stopped.
