Prom wear has changed
Matt Gaetz, one of the 193 House Republicans who voted against capping the price of life-saving insulin at $35 a month for most Americans last week, has justified his vote by saying that diabetes sufferers who use the live-saving medicine should lose weight.
In his newsletter on Friday, the Florida congressman wrote that his reason for opposing the Democrat-sponsored bill, which passed with the support of a dozen Republicans crossing the aisle, was that obese people are driving up the cost of the product, and not, as Democrats and activists argue, Big Pharma.
“While Democrat posturing of H.R. 6833 victimizes insulin payees as people with an uncontrollable disease that are being taken advantage of and need Big Brother to throw them a raft, lifestyle changes en masse would expeditiously lower demand and the subsequent prices of insulin,” Mr Gaetz wrote.
Please remember that Rick Scott’s GOP Party Platform includes getting rid of Medicare (and Social Security), so this is oddly aligned with the general Republican principle of get sick and die quickly.
You know, I am kinda warming to the idea of helicopter rides for some of these motherfuckers.
The majority of insulin-dependent diabetics are Type 1, where there is an autoimmune attack on the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. My dad was never overweight a day in his life, right up until he died from the complications of diabetes.

Thank you for speaking up. I am a retired nurse practitioner and was gonna point out that most of the T1DM patients i helped manage were thin. This a55h0le makes me incandescent with anger.

I wish I could update this 100 times. One of my closest friends has Type1 diabetes, and he has iron discipline.

When I first saw this I thought it was parody.
When I found it it was real quotes (poor Poe, his law really gets a workout these days) it reminded me of those congresspeople who thought menstruating women should just hold it instead of using pads. So, consistent, at least. Always be punching down.

I got parody for ya right here, and it’s pretty damn good. Additionally, no pads required, except for the padded cell reserved for his delicate ass…

The solution is simple. Add sugar to the list of illegal drugs and declare war on it.

Drinking too much alcohol has been linked to causing diabetes so Drunk Matt Gaetz should watch out. Of course, he needs all that liquor to get his child victims drunk before raping them.

I bet he’d vote to decrease the price of roofies.

Also, Insulin costs $3 a vial to produce. In general Pharmaceutical companies spend vastly more on marketing than R&D, so all the bullshit about “We must pay the gouging prices or we’ll never get wonder drugs ever again!” is just that, bullshit.
And Big Pharma would have to pay more for R&D if they didn’t suckle off the teat of the US Government, which funds a great deal of the basic, and even development research, conducted at US public universities. With some of those the companies have paid more just for coming up with and securing the copyrights to the stupid names than they did on R&D.
(latest favorite stupid name ‘Rinvoq’ some sort of arthritis drug. It sounds like it was named by a panel of Klingons. “RINVOQ!! Slay Arthritis for the Glory of the Empire! “ )
