H/T @NamelessCynic on the twitters.
I have seen that sign, or others just like it, leaving the Borough on the Belt Parkway heading East through Queens en route to JFK Airport or other points East on Longa I-land. It’s the real deal, from the local government. IIRR, when you enter the Borough, you’re likely to see a sign that says, “Welcome to Brooklyn. How Sweet it is!” (referring to Jackie Gleason’s “The Honeymooners,” of course).
Brooklyn IS special. It’s where my Russkaya future wife was living when we started dating 20+ years ago, and where her daughter is living now, finishing nursing school. Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Coney Island, the original Nathan’s Famous (Hot Dogs), the riverside park under the Brooklyn Bridge, I could go on and on.

My last trip to NYC I stayed in Brooklyn (Seattle hipster that I am), and loved it, easy to get around, too.
The irony is, as a former suburban type, I never really set foot in Brooklyn before I met my wife. She actually introduced me to a vital part of my own country!
Who did that? Some wiseguy, but whayagonnado?

I think the correct pronunciation is “Whaddayagonnado.” Reasonable minds may differ.
