Guys, today is the day that Ketanji Brown Jackson faces
three Republican Candidates for the 2024 Goat Rodeo, er, the Senate! Will smarmy Ted Cruz, Proud-boi Lite Josh Hawley, and uncharismatic Q-tip Tom Cotton grandstand for the mouth-breathers back home, and what exactly is that bear doing in the woods?
How will the three of ’em address potential voters? Will they show the racists back home how little respect they have for Black women, but do it in such that they have potential deniability when Our Failed Political Press ™ calls them on it? (Trick question! Our FPP ™ will never call them on it!) Will they have video clips to use in the 2024 Goat Rodeo? What is that bear in the woods doing?
Four days of confirmation hearings begin Monday at 11am ET with opening statements from Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Dick Durbin and ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley.
Then the other 20 members of the committee will also give statements, and the day will conclude with Jackson delivering her opening statement, lasting 10 minutes.
I’m predicting that none of the Republicans in the Senate will vote for her (why should they?) and of course the counter-argument is that with a 6-3 Supreme Court, the composition of the 3 doesn’t matter. But just for form’s sake the GOP will be united in their blockade.
Wagers in the comments.
UPDATE 1: The WaPo is live blogging the hearings.
