The Golden Schlafly!
Guys, we have a nominee for a Golden Shlafly: meet the Pride of Satan’s Hollow Missouri, fetus-fondling gawd-botherer state Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman:
The pattern emerges whenever a Republican-led state imposes new restrictions on abortion: People seeking the procedure cross state lines to find treatment in places with less-restrictive laws…
…An unusual new provision, introduced by state Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman (R), would allow private citizens to sue anyone who helps a Missouri resident obtain an abortion out of state, using the novel legal strategy behind the restrictive law in Texas that since September has banned abortions in that state after six weeks of pregnancy.
Abortion rights advocates say the measure is unconstitutional because it would effectively allow states to enact laws beyond their jurisdictions…. The measure could signal a new strategy by the antiabortion movement to extend its influence beyond the conservative states poised to tighten restrictions if the Supreme Court moves this summer to overturn its landmark precedent protecting abortion rights…
Her amendment also would make it illegal to manufacture, transport, possess or distribute abortion pills in Missouri.
Yup, if Coleman has her way, you can be sued in Missouri for a medical procedure you have in Illinois because, dammit, you will have your rapist’s baby, Praise Jeebus. Oh, and welcome to Gideon.
UPDATE 1: Related via strategy and theocratic intent – you cannot move to a more welcoming and inclusive state with your trans kid:
So, guys, if you live in the theocracy of Possum Hollar, you better get out: the Republicans are coming for everyone.
State’s rights means you have no rights.
Gilead, not Gideon. 😉

Gilead or Gideon, both make me think of the Glorious Guardians of the Good. Yeah the reference is fairly obscure, but I used to share an apartment with a Mary Hartman fan, and it rubbed off…

I do the love the place. I am so disappointed with my people. It took us only 40 – 50 years to forget. We are a sellout country and a cheap date. We worry about gas prices. We let the likes of Falwell and Trump tell us what we think.
We get the fantods, we freak out over culture wars. We have a bunch of fat maggots crawling all over our body so we can feed the Republicans.
Because they say so, and it will trickle down.

You call them ‘republicans’ but can you see they are nazis.
Same as what Ukrainians call ‘right sektor’ or ‘azov.’ = nazis.

Oops. “…can you see…” needs question mark ?
Comment I saw today:
“Most people think of nazis in relation to Jews, or 6,000,000 Jews.
But Russians see nazis in relation to 25,000,000 martyrs who nazis killed in Soviet Union .”
