The WaPo Hates VP Harris, Part Infinity

Hey guys, see if you can spot the WaPo’s razor blade in the poisoned apple:

MUNICH — As Vice President Harris met Friday with the heads of Baltic nations at a high-stakes security conference here centered on Russia’s aggression toward Ukraine, she made a vow that was equal parts American might and personal promise.

Nearby, at Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Secretary of State Antony Blinken found it hard to navigate the narrow corridors as foreign ministers, prime ministers and other longtime acquaintances intercepted his path with handshakes, hugs or an oft-repeated “Hey, Tony!”

[snip]

The split screen brought into sharp relief the complex dynamic at the conference as Harris, the senior official and head of the U.S. delegation, shares a double billing with Blinken, who has known many of the foreign officials here for decades…

“The vice president and Secretary Blinken have talked to each other here, but they’re pursuing separate schedules and their teams are not closely coordinated,” said one American official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters. “You could argue it’s a divide-and-conquer strategy, but that’s far-fetched. The Harris stop is about burnishing her political credentials as a leader in the middle of a crisis.”

Subtle, ain’t it? Everyone knows and likes HIM, but SHE is only there to do some resume polishing, and whispered by someone unknown who clearly has an agenda. And this Tiger Beat on the Potomac-like piece is what passes for straight news at the WaPo, arguably one of the best national dailies.

I’m old enough to remember when Our Failed Political Press ™  had the same kind of anonymous whispers when President Obama’s Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went out on diplomatic missions, a combination of misogyny and knife-in-the-back commentary.

But doing this sort of character assassination coverage as the world braces for war is a new low, even for a double-by-lined front page “news” article.

    • Seriously, this was a right-wing accquaintances reason for not trusting Hillary: “She’s ambitious”

Uhh yeah, unlike all the other people running for President!

(well there WAS that Fred Thompson run…that was the most ambition-free presidential campaign I’ve ever seen, rivaled only by Mike Gravel and his deeply weird “rock-in-the-lake” campaign ad, which I put down to the natural effects of Alaska’s decades-long right to grow your own dope. (1975-1990, 1998 for medical, 2014 for everyone..again)

Yeah, Fred Thompson’s Goat Rodeo run was the stuff of legends. He could take a pause in a speech and make you wonder if you should call the paramedics.

Until they jumped in to say she wasn’t there to negotiate, just to… burnish.. something…
    ,,,
I was thinking they authors were going to say they were greeting Blinken because he’s been there a lotand for a long time, so they, like, know him and have met him before and stuff? And Harris is new there, so any greetings are more likely to be introductions.
What’s the protocols for greeting and introducing yourself to a new VP, anyway? Bet it’s different than greeting someone you’ve known for years.

The right is scared of women like they are of all people of color. Vice President Harris is both so I imagine that she is twice the threat to them.
