Joe Manchin: “It’s all about me, Me, ME!”

Thanks a lot, Sens. Manchinema, for blocking the BBB which included continuing the Child Tax Credit. Here’s what you did:

The monthly child poverty rate increased from 12.1 percent in December 2021 to 17 percent in January 2022, the highest rate since the end of 2020. The 4.9 percentage point (41 percent) increase in poverty represents 3.7 million more children in poverty due to the expiration of the monthly Child Tax Credit payments. Latino and Black children experienced the largest percentage-point increases in poverty (7.1 percentage points and 5.9 percentage points, respectively).

Last night on Twitter one of my long-time followers tweeted:

I totally understand this, it is hard to have faith. Also, I just have never been able to get over my own distaste for the DNC (though I don’t think it’s the boogieman). I have not given them a dime since before Chimpy McStagger’s Reign of Error.

My advice to @FatesAndFuries:

It’s not elegant, but it is sincere: find the places where you can make a difference and then make a difference. Bluegal is fond of saying “Chop wood and carry water,” and I will add you can do that locally, too. I also neglected to mention ActBlue, and I regret that omission. Oops!

I keep reminding people (myself included) that Joe Manchin is a kingmaker ONLY because the entire Republican Senate walked lockstep towards the cliff.

We Lefties focus on our two failed Dem Senators and overlook the 50 Republicans who think taking food away from children is fine. We do that at our own peril.

It’s not the Democrats, it is 52 Senators who did this.

Me and Cindy T contribute to the DNC as well as local candidates for the fact that the DNC ET AL represent an island of sanity in a world gone mad…

Directly supporting ongoing LOCAL party organizing efforts is a really good way to spend your political giving dollars. It’s also helpful to remind your peeps that many of us- especially the children and their families thrown back into poverty that they do not have the luxury of taking their ball and going home because competition is hard in most instances. Sack the fuck up Fate’s & furies and cut the kvetch from the couch.

  3. Well, at least the billionaires and their minions won’t go hungry, and that’s what’s important in the U.S.

Sorry, but I have a problem blaming Democrats when there are only 48 (including 2 Independents) of them in the Senate along with 2 loose cannons and 50 Q’ers.
